Interview with Pablo Pasadas at Friday 27th of April 2018 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? PP: i am an collage illustrator with a grafic designer background. I like switching between this two mode of expression.I was not very interested by school. I have always drawn hidden at the back of classroom. But i never knew that it was possible to work in the creative aera. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? PP: I'm a freelancer. But sometimes i like collaborate with another creatives. I intented to work in a company like employee. But i prefer to be a freelancer. FS: What is "design" for you? PP: design is a way for resolving problems FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? PP: identity in grafic design and book illustration for illustration FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it? PP: My best design was about my final school project. it was a book talking about politician but by the prism of Jean Lafontaine sentences. Satirical and ironic. With 3d glasses. But unfortunetly someone stold it. Maybe it was a really good project ! FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company? PP: Flyers for Electro Balkanic Party FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? PP: My brain FS: When do you feel the most creative? PP: At night. When city is asleep. FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? PP: an equilibrium between content and form FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? PP: it's a kind of interior meditation FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? PP: exhausted, happy and ready for the next challenge FS: What makes a design successful? PP: intuition and accident FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? PP: concept and after composition, colors... FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment? PP: a lot. we are a chain part of neo-capitalism. we are not surgeon, firefighter or Ngo workers. we can just try to ameliorate small things. And intend to reduce visual pollution. FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design? PP: we are living surrounded by connected object. How to make it understandable for the user. FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition? PP: Last exhibition was last month for the launch of a book about prtotestant religion in Barcelona. I made all the illustrations. Maybe made a new exhibition at the final of the year FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations? PP: talking with people, newspaper, books, nature... FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design? PP: like hiphop music. Samples things, objects, concepts to give a new signification FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country? PP: i live between spain and france. Spain: color, warm, energy. France: concept, refined, political FS: How do you work with companies? PP: we exchange some emails or make a conference call. After i start to work on some sketches before sending the first draft FS: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer? PP: Looking is portfolio and i a discussion FS: What are 5 of your favorite design items at home? PP: pantone, mouse, scan, web radio and coffee FS: Can you describe a day in your life? PP: like clouds in the sky each day are different FS: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers? PP: experiment, work hard and be curius FS: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer? PP: Positives: living your passion, be aware, curiousNegatives: working under pressure and deadline, the commercial part FS: What is your "golden rule" in design? PP: work hard FS: What skills are most important for a designer? PP: curiosity en general FS: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.? PP: vintage book, image bank, some blogs, behance... FS: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time? PP: work hard until i finish FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end? PP: it depends on the complexity of the project. Sometimes it takes more times to conceptualize, sometimes to realise FS: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer? PP: explaining what consist my job FS: What was your most important job experience? PP: i worked for a FNAC international campaign during two years (multi support imagery) FS: Who are some of your clients? PP: TBWA, BUSINESS WEEK, FHM LONDON... FS: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why? PP: all work have his own interest FS: What are your future plans? What is next for you? PP: make new contact and work more FS: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself? PP: it depends on the project FS: Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about? PP: i can't tell nothing FS: How can people contact you?
