Si Li
FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
SL: I started learning painting at the age of ten and influenced by my father. These artistic atmosphere made me an artist.

FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
SL: Our studio is a visually oriented design company, mainly studying and designing traditional Chinese art.

FS: What is "design" for you?
SL: My design focuses on Chinese tradition and expresses the respect and inheritance of tradition with different design techniques.

FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
SL: I like the creation of art most.

FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
SL: Not yet

FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company?
SL: The first thing to do for a company is to design the company's logo.

FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
SL: Favorite thing is ink texture

FS: When do you feel the most creative?
SL: I'm usually most creative when I travel.

FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
SL: I pay more attention to the feelings that design brings to people.

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
SL: It was a very quiet state

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
SL: This is a sense of satisfaction

FS: What makes a design successful?
SL: I think it's the feeling that the design conveys.

FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
SL: Design should be neither good nor bad, as long as the emotional expression is in line with the rules, it seems to me that it is a good design.

FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
SL: It suggests that the public's aesthetic will make people's life more convenient.

FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
SL: The development of design is the inexorable trend of human development. The future design will change the life we know.

FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?
SL: The latest exhibition, of course, is Como, and there is no plan yet.

FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
SL: Design inspiration comes from life. I usually find inspiration in travel.

FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
SL: Generally speaking, my style of design is national characteristics, mainly excavating something of national culture.

FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
SL: I live in China, and Chinese culture is also one of the factors that affect my design.

FS: How do you work with companies?
SL: Cooperation with the company will start and do after the establishment of a regular contract.

FS: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?
SL: The first is the identity of the concept of value and the thinking of design.

FS: Can you talk a little about your design process?
SL: My design work, first of all, is the process of gathering inspiration, looking for topics in life experiences, looking for materials that can be used in the design from these topics and applying them to design.

FS: What are 5 of your favorite design items at home?
SL: They are: 1. China's 3. travel design, which was born on the 2. tongue of China.

FS: Can you describe a day in your life?
SL: Designers usually do this one day: get up at 8 in the morning, arrive at the company at 9, and deal with mail between 10-11. At 1 p.m., we began to design and create inspiration, and the 3-5 point was to carry out the design. After 7, I will read some design books and news after work. 10 rest

FS: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?
SL: What I admire most is the designer of Taiwan, Nie Yongzhen/Design, like personality, must make its own characteristics.

FS: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
SL: I think the positive thing is to design the sense of essence, and the negative is to design blindly commercialization.

FS: What is your "golden rule" in design?
SL: 7 points to create 3 points of business

FS: What skills are most important for a designer?
SL: A growing passion for creation

FS: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?
SL: Traditional tools include materials used in painting, and ps/ai/3d software commonly used in modern times.

FS: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?
SL: For the pure creation part, I usually give enough time, but in part of the design part, I will work out the design stage schedule and strictly follow this execution.

FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?
SL: I think a week is the most appropriate time

FS: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer?
SL: The most common problem is the conjunction between creation and practice.

FS: What was your most important job experience?
SL: At the beginning of my work, I entered a creative company and learned the importance of free expression and personality.

FS: Who are some of your clients?
SL: Alibaba/Starbucks/Erie

FS: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?
SL: I most like the design of free proposition. Generally, such a project is to grasp the initiative instead of being led by the customer.

FS: What are your future plans? What is next for you?
SL: The plan for the future is to do well in the transformation of the company sumvisual and other areas beyond design.

FS: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?
SL: It has its own design and team work.

FS: Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about?
SL: The project currently being done by Ali family members of Alibaba is an annual gift. We made a gift box that conveyed thanks to all Alibaba staff.
