Designnest Allocacoc
FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
DA: I have always wanted to be a designer! I spent six year gaining industrial design experience at Dong Hua University, graduating in 2016 with a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering. There are various problems encountered in people's daily life, and a lot of problems can be and should be solved. Solving problems is the goal for us as designers.

FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
DA: Allocacoc was founded in 2010 by Arthur Limpens and Yixia Jiang, two Industrial Design graduates from Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands. Allocacoc stands for setting a different standard. They are also helping other designers develop their ideas into products to be sold in the market through our crowdfunding platform called DesignNest. This is a one-of-a-kind crowdfunding platform that provides design knowledge, sourcing, production, and assembly together with distribution and sales.

FS: What is "design" for you?
DA: Pooling resources and solving problems in an appropriate way.

FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
DA: Simple products that people often use in their daily lives, which will improve their lifestyle.

FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
DA: MUJI Wall-mounted CD machine. It is a kind of metaphor in an interactive and visual perspective, which makes people feel that music flows like the wind.

DA: Excited, happy, driven

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
DA: Happiness! The fact that my product can bring convenience and fun to more people.

FS: What makes a design successful?
DA: When the design can solve problems effectively

FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
DA: Can it solve the problem effectively?

FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
DA: I believe that industrial designers have the mission to solve a variety of problems, to help people have a better life, a better environment and even a better world. Making a better product is a one of the best ways to solve the problems associated with people daily lives, and I enjoy it very much.

DA: Hongkong Lighting Fair ,Spring 2017. HongKong ,CN. I would want to hold my next exhibition anywhere if my product received an invitation.

FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
DA: I am very sensitive to the various problems encountered in people's daily life, and I feel that a lot of problems can be solved. I want to solve those problems in the way designers do.
