Interview with Ching-Feng Chang at Wednesday 26th of April 2017 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? CC: I would choose to study the Department of Architecture because of my uncle engaged in the construction industry All civil servants after leaving with the venture. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? CC: We create this company after vacate the civil service. FS: What is "design" for you? CC: Design is a thinking to solve the problem. FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? CC: Architecture and interior. FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it? CC: Sydney Opera House and Sagrada Familia. FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company? CC: This case. FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? CC: Favorite materials are metal, 3DMAX and REVIT. FS: When do you feel the most creative? CC: There is no external interference . FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? CC: Pay attention to people (users) feelings. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? CC: Tense mood. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? CC: Emptiness. FS: What makes a design successful? CC: Everyone's help. FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? CC: It should consider demand and price. FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment? CC: I think the designer has the responsibility of educating society and the environment. FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design? CC: I think the design field. FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations? CC: Movies, I like to get design inspiration from the film. FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design? CC: There is no certain design style, the owners of the idea will drive me to explore more of this style, my design method is from voluminous reading to stor energy. FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country? CC: Living in Taipei City, the cultural of the country has a profound impact on my design and the advantages and disadvantages of our design are often budget. FS: How do you work with companies? CC: Partnership. FS: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer? CC: An independent thinker. FS: Can you describe a day in your life? CC: I like to get up early to company , it helps me arrange work items, after get off work , I will go to exercise and sometimes the inspiration shows up suddenly. FS: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers? CC: Keep trying and persevering. FS: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer? CC: Positive and negative factors all come from whether there is a sense of accomplishment. FS: What is your "golden rule" in design? CC: Self-insisting. FS: What skills are most important for a designer? CC: The development of aesthetics. FS: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.? CC: 3DMAX and REVIT. FS: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time? CC: Clearly sort out the priorities of things. FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end? CC: 3 months. FS: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer? CC: Can not escape the framework of self. FS: What was your most important job experience? CC: Civil service experience. FS: Who are some of your clients? CC: Friends and relatives. FS: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why? CC: Industrial design works, relative to the building is more creative. FS: What are your future plans? What is next for you? CC: Help the company to develop steadily. FS: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself? CC: Teamwork. FS: Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about? CC: The design projects are residential, interior design , restaurant and part of the residential. FS: How can people contact you? CC: Can be contacted with MAIL.
