Interview with Sadik Patel at Wednesday 26th of April 2017

FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
SP: I am Active & Creative all the time and I always wanted to be a designer. I am very passionate about inventions and technologies. I like changes, improvement, amendment, addition, variation, innovations, transformation, modification in everything from the household items to machinery.

FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
SP: I am an independent designer

FS: What is "design" for you?
SP: Design is hobby and passion for me

FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
SP: I am always looking for solutions for the problems in anything in any products

FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
SP: I use different material, platform or technology according to nature of project

FS: When do you feel the most creative?
SP: Whenever I see Struggle in Task, I immediate become creative and thinking for solutions

FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
SP: Reduce time, add features and utilities

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
SP: Amazement

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
SP: Anticipation, looking forward positively to something which is going to happen

FS: What makes a design successful?
SP: Problem Solver and resolving issue makes design succesful

FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
SP: New features of the design

FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
SP: Designers should share their work with the society to make sure everyone gets the benefit from their designs and products. Designers must try to find the answer for the problems to make life easier for the society Designer should have giving and sacrifice nature, they must spent their own time to save time of others.

FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
SP: Design field is growing up rapidly due to the huge industrial demands. Future of design is so bright as industries are now hiring more designers as they have massive competitions. Designers have new online platforms like 'A Design Online Competitions' to share their Art, Design, Concept and Work to the world wide market.

FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?
SP: N/A

FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
SP: Ideas and inspirations derives from struggles and shortages during day to day activities. I spent time to workout on issues, I enjoy making changes in things to feed my creativity New inventions always inspires me. I always admire effort and work of others by making notes.

FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
SP: My design works are mostly based on new features and utilities. According to me new concepts and designs which carries new features are the best design. I like to make things more handy and easy.

FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
SP: I live in United Kingdom. My design does not affects to the cultural heritage of my country and I do not feel anything exceptions during designing in United Kingdom

FS: How do you work with companies?
SP: I am a freelance designer, usually I share my project to different companies

FS: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?
SP: Companies should come more forward to help individual designers. It is too difficult to contact companies for the new designers to submit their work. Companies must have direct contact details or confidential correspondence for the new designers and freelancers to select a good designer.

FS: Can you talk a little about your design process?
SP: My design 'Qemfor' is designed according to the current life style and use of mobile phones for the people of all ages. Phone cameras are placed on four sides for perspective recording to give the right impression. Unlike 360 degree cameras, user can turn on/off any particular camera on their desires to maintain privacy Recording makes easy while travelling in bus, train or car Covers more angles and cameras in crowd, weddings and parties

FS: What are 5 of your favorite design items at home?
SP: Robot hoover, Color changing water tap, Door showing time period since the door open last. Electric cattle adjusting water for certain temperature Sensor Light

FS: Can you describe a day in your life?
SP: Always looking for new activities. Hunting for new gadgets, technology, inventions on various social media

FS: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?
SP: It always takes time to get the things done, keep patience and keep trying. Revise your past work and if needed start again from the scratch.

FS: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
SP: Designers gets mix reviews on their work, sometime more positive and sometime nagative Designers are not appreciated till their design gets name and fame.

FS: What is your "golden rule" in design?
SP: Think out of box, Dream it imagine it write it make it share it

FS: What skills are most important for a designer?
SP: imagination and creativity

FS: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?
SP: I use different sources for different projects from hardware to software

FS: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?
SP: The best suitable time is late evening once the all day work done

FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?
SP: Depending on project and the resources. It takes from few days to weeks or even months

FS: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer?
SP: Is this possible?

FS: What was your most important job experience?
SP: Making design for Furniture Company in UK

FS: Who are some of your clients?
SP: Retail furniture showrooms in UK

FS: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?
SP: I like to work in Photoshops and 3ds Max These are the best software available to enhance your imaginations

FS: What are your future plans? What is next for you?
SP: I would like to work for different companies as a freelancer or on project basis

FS: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?
SP: I develop designs on my own

FS: Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about?
SP: Recently I have made unique Mobile-Cover, This cover is made to maintain screen privacy
