Interview with CTRC Design Consultant Ltd. at Wednesday 26th of April 2017 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? CDCL: When I was growing up, I thought work was boring besides things that were related to design or art. I always had plenty of ideas in my mind and I wanted to create and accomplish them. The reason that I choose to be an interior design was because this is the category of work which involves a lot of design elements that I'm interest in and its more challenging. Such as graphic, proportion of detail, materials, furniture and lighting etc.. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? CDCL: CTRC Design was established in late 2015 with my wife, it is a great encouragement for us that we won 2 Sliver Awards in A’ Design Award and Competition. As this is the first year that we applied international design competition since we started up our business. FS: What is "design" for you? CDCL: Design is meaning everything for me. FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? CDCL: Client oriented. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? CDCL: I feel anxious and hate people to interrupt me during the design process, once the concept has been completed I felt very excited immediately. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? CDCL: Look forward to receive feedbacks from client. FS: What makes a design successful? CDCL: Never give up. FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? CDCL: It has to be satisfied by both client and designer, a good design should find a balance between practical and aesthetic. FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design? CDCL: I think people are getting more and more aware of green and eco-friendly on design. FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations? CDCL: Aware of everything in my surroundings, keeping my vision wide open and now all data you can find on internet which is very convenient. FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design? CDCL: I do not agree to frame my design style, I think design is boundless and I will open wide for everything. FS: Where do you live? Hong Kong is an international city so I can try different style of design without limitation. FS: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer? CDCL: Companies should deliberately consider the advices or suggestions from designers regardless to the age or position.
