Interview with Seyed Ilia Daneshpour at Tuesday 18th of April 2017 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? SID: I grew up in artist family. I am musician and i began playing kamancheh from my youth, beside it i love design, i intended to be a designer, for this reason I followed industrial design academically too notwithstanding i graduate in Computer Hardware Engineering before. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? SID: Crocu design and development studio has established to design products and packaging with passion of balancing between aesthetics and performance with simplicity alongside focusing on synthesis of Persian & Iranian traditional art and innovation FS: What is "design" for you? SID: Mainly Responding to all side of necessities & needs of its operator at first, in addition it is a delightful medium to deliver cultural & historical values. FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? SID: Wood, metal & concrete are my favorite, as i involved with computer programming, programming in field of augmented & virtual reality. FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? SID: Propinquity of my product or service design to the operators real & actual needs FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? SID: Participate my ideas & feeling in a unit framework as a product nor service will be sensational for me FS: What makes a design successful? SID: Creating useful & reasonable values added Alongside responding to the necessities FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? SID: Judgment is not my pleasure, but first of all i myself have to observe principles & elements for having a resolute analysis. FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations? SID: Beside discovering & finding out from nature as a bionic design, i come from a country which is rich of historical & cultural heritage and background that led me to inspire FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design? SID: I fond of minimalism alongside enthusiasm for applying motives used in my country's historical architectural masterpieces FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country? SID: i come from the land which is one of the pioneers in civilization so Without a doubt my country's background has key role in my design approach. FS: What are 5 of your favorite design items at home? SID: Web pages/Applications ux & ui design, Lightning, furniture, kitchen ware & accessories, consumer electronics FS: What is your "golden rule" in design? SID: concinnity alongside usefulness FS: What skills are most important for a designer? SID: Accurate understanding of the problem & apply the inventive Design solution FS: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.? SID: Maybe as you know, i am musician & in the challenges playing kamancheh helps me a lot & Iran trotting is inspirational FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end? SID: It depends on the objects workload which i design, but normally it takes about at least 3 months or more. FS: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer? SID: could my designed services or product be useful for target users? FS: What was your most important job experience? SID: I have worked in UX & UI design since 15 years ago till now but recently I have expanded my works domain to product & packaging design also. FS: How can people contact you?
