Shu-Yuan Chang
FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
SC: I personally think that design is a kind of life, with the development of human civilization, the design of ubiquitous, we opened our eyes in the moment: from the ceiling, gown, brush your teeth, wash your face, tableware, design. Design and life is closely related to the subject, I think the future designer's work for facing many challenges! For the 21st century mankind: design is the basic needs, but also the basic ability! Maybe you cannot create, but you will definitely appreciate it.

FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
SC: I attach great importance to the kitchen and the restaurant, the people eat the day, the kitchen, the restaurant is the heart of a home! No matter how fashionable than a healthy diet, although it is still a lot of fastfood junkies , because of this, more desire healthy kitchen at home, and excellent dining environment of the restaurant. Whether it is a person's kitchen and even three generations of the big kitchen, how clever use of space and the actual cooperation, and can take care of the user's convenience, and the chefs of the smooth, I like the design is like research, A great dining atmosphere that can cohesive the warmth of home.

FS: When do you feel the most creative?
SC: I can not always work in the same place sometimes I will go to the mountains or the seaside café. I need to find a field of inspiration for me with different engineering topics.

FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
SC: Design must be creative.Ex: the connection and change of the structure and the details of the finishing details.

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
SC: Every space has a lot of ways to break the problem but the most consistent with the customer only one answer. When a tricky case gets the best answer, it will feel very excited and do not feel sleepy at work.

FS: What makes a design successful?
SC: When a pair of design ideas hit a right owner, it will arouse a lot of creative sparks and well communication .so a creative and interesting works is born.

FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
SC: Design ideas are infinite possibilities! A good design must be paid, the budget is definitely the key!

FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
SC: Honestly, I don’t like to have a specific style and don’t want to follow the popular. Every work is tailored! Regardless Country style, south eastern style or Scandinavian style, all the design work starts from the chat.

FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
SC: I am from Taiwan. In this small island we have absolute freedom! Where people interact very deeply, everyone should learn to take care of others, the most beautiful scenery in Taiwan is the "people", which deeply affect my style, so people-oriented design is my spindle, I don’t objectively emphasizes any kind of personal style and preference, "house as its people" each work is exclusive owner, it represents the owner's own residence rather than from a designer's hand. Taiwan, this beautiful Formosa through the Netherlands, Japan, the rule of the people, the city scenery may not be comparable to Europe and the United States but nowhere to see the old and new blend of beautiful, mix and match fashion and classical.

FS: What skills are most important for a designer?
SC: Hand-painted ability! Customer's sketch communication face to face. And accumulate experience from usual wide range of learn.

FS: What are your future plans? What is next for you?
SC: Practitioners 20 years, made numerous space works. Now I have a dream, I want to try a private yacht design! How to maximize the performance in the smallest space! At present I am full of my mind to imagine my future yacht.

FS: How can people contact you?
SC: Welcome to contact me! My phone number: 0939179818
