FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
TH: I am a RIBA ARB Registered Architect and a recipient of the DFA Hong Kong Young Design Talent Award 2019, a prestigious recognition for emerging designers who demonstrate excellence and originality in their field.
FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
TH: T.B.C. Studio believes in everyone should have no boundaries and restrictions to customise, craft and create. As a studio, we seek to transform design & make ideas as interiors & installation using digital customization.
FS: What is "design" for you?
TH: I specialize in interior architecture, digital fabrication, and geometric patterns, and I have contributed to the design and development of several high-profile and complex projects, the expansion of the Hong Kong Science Museum and Hong Kong Museum of History, and a private villa in Hong Kong Island. I have also created and exhibited my own art installations (e.g. deTour@PMQ) that transform geometric patterns into interactive and dynamic forms, using advanced technologies and techniques such as 3D printing, CNC milling, and programming. I am passionate about exploring the intersection of architecture, art, and technology, and how they can enhance the quality and diversity of the built environment.
