PDT: We usually feel most creative at nights and when feeling free minded. FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? PDT: We firstly focus more on functionality and form later on comes the color and light. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? PDT: Sometimes there might be situations that we have to design even if are not in a good mood but designing carries us to a different world, takes us far away from the emotions at the begining and makes us feel happy when we see the result. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? PDT: Seeing the product at the end of the design is always exciting for us. FS: What makes a design successful? PDT: There are many things to consider in design. Spatial necessities, needs of clients, functionallity, form and color are very important but gathering them together in a harmony and being brave makes a design successful. Designing without professional anxiety also takes design to top. FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? PDT: Design is universal and there are beauties that are accepted by everyone. It is important that design suits the definition of beauty first. When educated eyes look at the design, they distinguish the bad and good; but when we look at the design, we consider if there is a distinctive usage, innovativeness and harmony in design. That's what make the design special and good. If design doesn't have those features and imitative, design is bad for us. FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment? PDT: From my point of view, designer should be aware of sustainability for the future of environment and society. Designer should carefully think the usage of sources and materials and shouldn't waste in a dangerous way. FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design? PDT: Design field is developing day by day. When we look back, most of todays' design weren't possible to realize. With developing technology it is getting easier to produce more complex designs. In future, some technical detail problems are going to be sold by high technology. FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition? PDT: Our last exhibition was at Modeko İzmir. There isn't a planned time for our next exhibition, but if we produce our furniture designs, we would like to join. FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations? PDT: Nature and walking by ythe seaside motivates us. As we are artists, being involved in artistic activities and seeing art products increases our visual abilities. FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design? PDT: We can describe our design style as dynamic style. Searching for a lively, comfortable and without monotony spcaes made us to use this style. FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country? PDT: We live in Turkey. We don't think that cultural heritage of our country affests our designs. Even there is oriental breeze in in our culture, we have more contemporarist approach. In our country, people like more classical design.
