Interview with Studio.Ho Design Ltd. at Monday 19th of March 2018

FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
SDL: I love design since school time, after graduated from the Shih-Chien University, I kept this enthusiasm and develop in this work.

FS: What is "design" for you?
SDL: It solves problems, including emotions, engineering, and psychology…etc. all these issues could be fixed via design.

FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
SDL: We love the most challenged part in every project, like I said; we take challenges and deal with them.

FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
SDL: Every different age has its own special features. What I like is not the figure but the design spirit.

FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company?
SDL: It was a project for a fifty-years-old mother’s home. She finally got her dream kitchen.

FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
SDL: Materials with hand-made texture, for example, solder joints of steels, weather-beaten wood texture.

FS: When do you feel the most creative?
SDL: Some sweet snacks, sufficient sleep, delicious coffee and wonderful music.

FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
SDL: It should be easy to use and maintain; it should be beauty but no inanition.

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
SDL: I just can’t stop doing it, always forget the time passing.

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
SDL: It’s the best thing when your idea is recognized, that means your works worthy. Make me have the sense of accomplishment.

FS: What makes a design successful?
SDL: So many things can be discussed: trust, budget, right place, and right time.

FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
SDL: We study the background first, then we do judge if they put themselves in users’ shoes or not.

FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
SDL: Environmental protection is important, and then we improve the life of people. From the human spirits and visual experiment, all these could be changed.

FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
SDL: Design should make human beings treat the earth better.

FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
SDL: I got my inspirations from the environment condition. Take our case “Roam into the lake” for example; we got this idea because of the location of the hospital.Books, cooking, movies, music and my family also give me lots of ideas.

FS: What are 5 of your favorite design items at home?
SDL: Coco chair, soft sheet, fragrance, oven, Brera floor lamp.

FS: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?
SDL: Be enthusiasm to the thing you love, and work hard on it.

FS: What is your "golden rule" in design?
SDL: Always keep the promise to the clients.

FS: What was your most important job experience?
SDL: The collaboration with Raising Children Medical foundation. Before this opportunity, we never imaged that a design project could be donated.

FS: How can people contact you?
SDL: You can find us via our Facebook our the website. We'll be very happy to get your mails !
