Interview with Kostiantyn Rybak at Wednesday 23rd of March 2016 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? KR: I'm a perfectionist by nature, thus, if the result doesn't seem satisfactory, I'll be changed it as much as needed so it makes me pleased. It started with the objectification of my worldview into things for myself. The first product created by me was a little clutch, sewed of leather, which I selected accurately. Then it didn't look like the image I had, that's why I deformed it with the help of water, temperature and mechanical impact until it was just the object I was carrying in my mind. I felt that I need to express myself so I found the interest in design and art. I started to make research of artist who work in leather craftsmanship. I done the very useful internship with Nutsa Modebadze, she taught me general basic and the most important technologies of leather crafting. The next step of mine design career was Saint Martins college of Art. I have done the course of Creative process by Audry Ang (she worked with Yohji Yamomoto). Kofta brand was launched in 2010 in Kiev, Ukraine. Till 2015 I have done 10 collections that were mostly shown in Paris. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? KR: It is a very small studio in Kiev, Ukraine. That was launched in 2010. FS: What is "design" for you? KR: The main idea is a perfect implementation of unperferct sourses . And the most important thing for me and for my brand is a True. Art every time faced with True, it is not general but exclusively rule. The most beautirful art existed in the place where True finded apropriate form. FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? KR: Doesn't matter, because I create the idea first. I love all process from developing a idea to implementation again and again. And the most exciting part of my work is to see somebody wearing KOFTA bag. FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it? KR: I love all my creations it is like my childrens. FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company? KR: It is a small wallets with strange texture. FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? KR: I'm working with leather, I love all its possibility for creation. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? KR: All specter)) FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? KR: I'm happy as any person when he do the best. FS: What makes a design successful? KR: All points of strategy must be done the best or nobody will see my creation. FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? KR: Idea and quality of all parts of the design presentation. FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment? KR: He must have what to say to the humanity and to everything to be heard. FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design? KR: I never mind about trends. But I hope it will be more natural-friendly. FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition? KR: A.I Intelligence during Alta Roma fashion week. FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations? KR: I like traveling a lot. The most of my inspiration came from my jorneys. From the other side my hobby is to composing music, I create in techno direction. FS: Where do you live?
