Interview with He Huawu at Thursday 5th of May 2016 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? HH: First of all I just want to learn drawing and gradually I become a designer because of the habit. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? HH: The goal of the company is to develope new thinking and create the better environment for humanbeings. FS: What is "design" for you? HH: It means life. FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? HH: I prefer to chanllenge different kinds of projects. FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it? HH: I like to do some functional designs.We concentrate on the users'emotion and security .In addition ,I hope my design can bring happiness and harmonies to them . FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company? HH: Communication. FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? HH: We often use wood as our choice, and pay more attention to protecting environment. FS: When do you feel the most creative? HH: When I meet chanllenges, I will become more stronger. FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? HH: Humanities. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? HH: Temperature and emotional comfort improve are our in FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? HH: It is a new beginning. FS: What makes a design successful? HH: conception, innovation and clients FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? HH: being of guidance or not FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment? HH: Life and health. FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design? HH: Techonology and Internet bring us a bright future. FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition? HH: Munich and New York. I hope the next exhibition will be held in Milan . FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations? HH: The basis of inspiration is experience. The project properties and customer-oriented experience help naturing creativity. FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design? HH: we do hope that space returns to simplicity, and to being explorative.To realize the design through the space character. FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country? HH: I live in China. It's Chinese garden landscape influent my design.There is a bigger market in China so that I can try more different designs. The bad thing is that the design works can be effected because of the customers' unclear asthetic view points. FS: How do you work with companies? HH: Labor division and cooperation in our team. FS: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer? HH: Loyalty and morality. FS: Can you talk a little about your design process? HH: I constant revising my plans to be more perfect. FS: What are 5 of your favorite design items at home? HH: The Puli Hotel and Spa,Amanfayun,Fuchun Resort ,The Lalu Sun Moon Lake,Park Hyatt Shanghai FS: Can you describe a day in your life? HH: keep busy FS: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers? HH: Find personal life stage and keep reading. FS: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer? HH: Persitance ,the ability of restrain. FS: What is your "golden rule" in design? HH: Cope with shifting events by sticking to a fundamental principle. FS: What skills are most important for a designer? HH: the ability to capture creative ideas. FS: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.? HH: I always design my projects with my heart. FS: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time? HH: there is no time limit. FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end? HH: About three to eight months. FS: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer? HH: cost. FS: What was your most important job experience? HH: go with the movie cast to shoot a film FS: Who are some of your clients? HH: there is no fixed customers. FS: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why? HH: Hotel.Because it won't limit my thinking. FS: What are your future plans? What is next for you? HH: we always keep thinking what the best design is. And we hope we can estabilish a educational organization. The hotel is my next work. FS: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself? HH: the project implementation is the result of team's cooperation. FS: Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about? HH: we are designing a box in the park concerning a newly life style about coffee and reading. we hope the box can be integrated in the buildings. FS: How can people contact you?
