Interview with Weiwei Zhang at Wednesday 25th of October 2023 FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? WZ: The main direction of my personal research is humanized design, so products that are in close contact with people are my main design direction. FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company? WZ: The outdoor luminaires I designed for TCL Group were my first work FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? WZ: I prefer plastics, because existing plastic technologies can simulate most natural materials and properties, and they have strong modeling capabilities and are suitable for mass production. FS: When do you feel the most creative? WZ: When I look up information, visit and communicate, I can stimulate my ability to innovate, especially in communication with leading users. FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? WZ: The user's experience of the product FS: What makes a design successful? WZ: professional knowledge, competence and literacy. FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? WZ: Meeting the user's needs is key to measuring the success of a design.The first thing I think about is functionality FS: What skills are most important for a designer? WZ: Ability to identify and solve problems.
