Interview with Shin-Yuan Fang at Monday 26th of March 2018 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? SF: At first, I wanted to be an artist because I loved to draw. A wild imagination spurred my interest in art.Art class in school. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? SF: Wei Yi international design associates now focuses on interior design, research and planning. we intent is to find a new way of life that is substantial but not excessive in terms of materials and furnishings. FS: What is "design" for you? SF: Instead of pursuing fashion, we pursues the feels of peace and harmonious in the space. FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? SF: Architectures, interior space... FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it? SF: i was fascinated by the beauty, loneliness and harmonious of oriental aesthetics. FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company? SF: residence FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? SF: concrete FS: When do you feel the most creative? SF: when i taking a shower... FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? SF: simple materials and linear create a space which can transform into different modus. it emphasizes the usage of elements. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? SF: The first emotions I feel are optimism and curiosity. During the artistic process I am careful. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? SF: In the end, I feel joy and a strong sense of achievement. FS: What makes a design successful? SF: good communication.Do one thing at a time, and do well. FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? SF: innovation FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
