Interview with Federico Traverso

Home > Designer Interviews > Federico Traverso

Editor Frank Scott (FS) from DesignPRWire has interviewed designer Federico Traverso (FT) for A’ Design Award and Competition. You can access the full profile of Federico Traverso by clicking here.

Interview with Federico Traverso at Monday 14th of April 2014

FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
FT: After graduating in architecture, I decided to work the Murano glass, collaborating with Japanese artists. After that experiences I realized that I would become a product designer. I then attended a three-year doctorate in product and communication design, at I.U.A.V., Venice.

FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
FT: BrogliatoTraverso is a product design studio founded by Alberto Brogliato and Federico Traverso. By joining the different backgrounds and project experiences in Italy and abroad, we have developed our own personal vision of design. “We want our products to give emotions, telling the wonderful stories which we all need.” This vision and our passion for the "know-how", made that companies like Diamantini & Domeniconi, MyYour, Heineken, Plust Collection and several others decided to work with us, being mentioned in many magazines.

FS: What is "design" for you?
FT: design for me is the only way to keep art in everyday life

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
FT: pride for the "birth"

FS: What makes a design successful?
FT: too things: use, shape, beauty, brand's power, kind of market, period, economy …. but sure that the power of the idea is really important!

FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
FT: The beauty of the approach to solve the issue of project

FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
FT: bring the beauty in society, applying the art to everyday objects

FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
FT: Really there are too many checkers to understand the real future of design
