FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
DO: Initially studied graphic design. Naturally then studied industrial design and architecture. I believe these are areas that complement

FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
DO: the atelier of DAAO tries to answer the need to create useful objects to habitat, where it lost creativity

FS: What is "design" for you?
DO: The design is a response to our daily needs

FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
DO: Furniture for home and public spaces

FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
DO: my first piece of furniture. A chaiseloungue having a rotation, becoming a long rocking chair. It's called # 21

FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company?
DO: furniture

FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
DO: I love the CNC technology. and I love the wood

FS: When do you feel the most creative?
DO: In Morning

FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
DO: In developing the concept

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
DO: I feel happy when designing

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
DO: The completion of a project encourages me to start the following I have in mind

FS: What makes a design successful?
DO: Its utility by the absence of superficial

FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
DO: its function

FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
DO: The responsibilities of the designer are the improvement of people's lives, Development is appropriate methods and objects

FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
DO: The future of design is inextricably linked to the advancement of technology. I think go for a joint discipline

FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
DO: The nature and biommimetic are my great source of inspiration. The answers are all in nature

FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
DO: minimal and funcional

FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
DO: I live in Lisbon. Do not believe a local design. The overall design is, like life in general

FS: How do you work with companies?
DO: Respond to requests handing me completely. always depends on the briefing

FS: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?
DO: It is essential companies to work with a designer. This creates and optimizes product. The concept of a good designer is always relative. A designer before being a good designer has to be an apprentice

FS: Can you talk a little about your design process?
DO: My process is to investigate initially create a concept according om the customer and optimize it to the level of production and materials

FS: Can you describe a day in your life?
DO: Wake up early and work in the morning. By week four vees go swimming 12.30. to return to work and end the day later I'll get my daughter to school. Studied and talked. after dinner sometimes still work a little

FS: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?
DO: Study mutch and work hard

FS: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
DO: I see only positive things. An early career is allowed to dream and who knows later finish

FS: What is your "golden rule" in design?
DO: honesty with the client and with yourself

FS: What skills are most important for a designer?
DO: do not get hooked to dogmas and not following fads

FS: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?
DO: like going to the movies, it's inspiring. think and draw three-dimensionally in your mind is the first step. write a lot, all thoughts drift project. and never escape the concept. then for each project there is a different feramenta to approach it

FS: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?
DO: I always think I'll get by is shorter than the time

FS: What was your most important job experience?
DO: binding to manufacture. resolve many details of the project in manufactures

FS: Who are some of your clients?
DO: individuals and companies

FS: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?
DO: create furniture. Because it is a challenge to design pieces to the scale of human

FS: What are your future plans? What is next for you?
DO: internationalize my brand of furniture

FS: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?
DO: currently develop the work of my own brand, but I think eventually open the brand to other desiners
