FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
AA: I started my artistic career as a teenager in graphic designing and continued to become a photographer in a few years. I continued to work as an industrial designer when I was studying architecture. I always want to be a designer.
FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
AA: I am Tehran based Architect, Designer and Photographer. I got my master's degree in Architecture from Tehran Azad University in 2008. When I was studying architecture and after ten years of experience, due to my lifetime passion I started the ALI ALAVI DESIGN brand.
FS: What is "design" for you?
AA: I think every think must be and need design. I think when we design somethings we respect to it and customer.
FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
AA: Architecture, Interior design, Furniture, lighting, Home wear, Watch, shoes
FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
AA: Furniture and specially Chair
FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company?
AA: Chair ( Serenad chair)
FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
AA: Wood, Stanless steel, leather
FS: When do you feel the most creative?
AA: I always (7/24) involve with design and create and really enjoy it.
FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
AA: Original design is very important for me
FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
AA: I always said: Just do something that you be created for it. I enjoyed my life when I designed somethings
FS: What makes a design successful?
AA: Originality , Invention , Creativity , Beauty
FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
AA: Originality , Invention , Creativity , Beauty
FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
AA: I think 3D print change many thinks in design.
FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
AA: Personally , I draw inspiration from animals in nature and in most of my designs I prefer to deploy natural forms rather than using geometric forms.
FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
AA: I think original design and good design always winner. I try make my style and do`nt follow other designer style.
FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
AA: I live in Iran. But I try to be an international designer.
FS: How do you work with companies?
AA: I prefer be a freelancer designer
FS: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?
AA: It is my big dream that companies trust to designer and let them fly.
FS: What are 5 of your favorite design items at home?
AA: chair, sofa, desk lamp, kitchen accessory ,
FS: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?
AA: Be original & Be creator
FS: What is your "golden rule" in design?
AA: Good design always winner
FS: What skills are most important for a designer?
AA: Creativeness, Comprehension, Mentality, Observation, Imagination
FS: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?
AA: pen and paper, Autocad, 3dmax vray, photoshop, wacome
FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?
AA: It is depends on object. But my best time is 8 Original design in one hour.
FS: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer?
AA: Is it Original design or Is it blinding design ?
FS: What was your most important job experience?
AA: Carpenter
FS: Who are some of your clients?
AA: Private and personal clients
FS: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?
AA: Product design & industrial design Because when we design a building we design one thing But for complete the building we need many things.
FS: What are your future plans? What is next for you?
AA: I try to develop my Brand as a designer. looking for manufactory to make my designs and present my product.
FS: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?
AA: I really like team work But I can`t fine a good partner.
FS: Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about?
AA: I have many designs in progress. I never stop designing
