Interview with Lien-Wu Chen at Tuesday 15th of April 2014 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? LC: I have shown my art potential since I was a child. I think I got my talent from my father who is a well-know artist, Tommy Chen in Taiwan art history. I always want to be a designer since I was young. I major in architecture and active in art club which helps me to develop my design. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? LC: My company is not big but exquisite. Our company culture is "open", in terms of space and communication. We have global perspective and diversify interior design company. Our design is not limited in certain style but full of creativity and ideas. FS: What is "design" for you? LC: For me design is art and living. FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? LC: I can put my crazy idea and creativity into reality. And see my client live in an art place and bring them joy everyday. FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? LC: comfortable and beauty FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? LC: peaceful FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? LC: exciting and touched FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment? LC: Designers need to make our living more convenient and happier and prettier. Do less harm to environment. FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations? LC: My design comes from art. I often visit art exhibition and gallery to feed my brain. Traveling, to release my brain and put more nutrition into it. FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country? LC: I live in Taipei, Taiwan. I think in some aspect it influence me a lot. Here people believe Feng-shui so I often need to compromise and satisfy clients spiritual need and believes. FS: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer? LC: Among my design, which design is my favorite? FS: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself? LC: I work as a team FS: How can people contact you?
