Interview with Francesco Sarcone at Thursday 18th of April 2013 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? FS: I'm a musician since i was a kid, i had bands and i worked as label and studio assistant. About ten years ago i started to work on electronic music, mixing computer made sounds and acoustic soundscapes. In 2008 i've been asked to compose some soundtracks for a small company in my town and it worked pretty good. Than i decided to go deeper in the sound design subject and i slowly started to build a little list of clients in my city. It begun a part time job for me and when i've been able to pay my bills i decided to drop my primary job and be a producer and sound designer. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? FS: I'm a freelancer, but i often work with other musicians or technicians the make better works. FS: What is "design" for you? FS: Designing sound for me is like cooking a meal: the food must be good and warm. There are no rules and no limits... but in the end the sound has to really talk to the audience and lead it to another space. FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? FS: I like working on abstract motion, because i can create something that does not exist yet, a unique sound just as my creativity suggests me at that moment. FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? FS: I like using objects of the everyday life, and capture their sound; and i also like using instruments that i can't play... as a kid playing with new unknown toys. FS: When do you feel the most creative? FS: I feel more creative after a long exposure to art or after visiting a beautiful city i'm inspired by the art language. FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? FS: I focus on emotions, i want to create something that people can feel.
