FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
GM: THE DESIRE NOT ONLY TO CONTEMPLATE THE BEAUTIFUL, BUT ALSO PARTICIPATE IN ITS CREATION LED US TO THE DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURE. / В ДИЗАЙН И АРХИТЕКТУРУ НАС ПРИВЕЛО ЖЕЛАНИЕ НЕ ТОЛЬКО СОЗЕРЦАТЬ ПРЕКРАСНОЕ, НО И ПРИНИМАТЬ УЧАСТИЕ В ЕГО СОЗДАНИИ.

FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
GM: EVERY ONE OF US IS INDEPENDENT ARCHITECT WITH ITS OWN METHODS OF WORK AND TASTE PREFERENCES, WE ARE UNITED BY A COMMON VISION OF DESIGN AND APPRECIATION OF WHAT IS GOOD AND WHAT IS BAD. WE HAVE JOINED FORCES, CREATING ARCHITIME DESIGN GROUP, IN ORDER TO PROPERLY ALLOCATE THE PROCESS OF DESIGNING AND CHERISHING THE IDEAS. / КАЖДЫЙ ИЗ НАС – САМОСТОЯТЕЛЬНЫЙ АРХИТЕКТОР СО СВОИМИ МЕТОДАМИ РАБОТЫ И ВКУСОВЫМИ ПРИСТРАСТИЯМИ, НАС ОБЪЕДИНЯЕТ ОБЩЕЕ ВИДЕНИЕ ДИЗАЙНА И ПРЕДСТАВЛЕНИЕ О ТОМ, ЧТО ТАКОЕ ХОРОШО И ЧТО ТАКОЕ ПЛОХО. FS: What is "design" for you?
GM: DESIGN - THIS IS WHEN THE CREATIVE COMPONENT IS COMBINED WITH A FUNCTIONAL SENSE AND AN AMAZING PROCESS OF TURNING IDEAS INTO TANGIBLE IS HAPPENED. FOR US, DESIGN IS THE FAVORITE WORK AND HOBBIES. / ДИЗАЙН – ЭТО КОГДА ТВОРЧЕСКАЯ СОСТАВЛЯЮЩАЯ ОБЪЕДИНЯЕТСЯ С ФУНКЦИОНАЛЬНЫМ СМЫСЛОМ И ПРОИСХОДИТ УДИВИТЕЛЬНЫЙ ПРОЦЕСС ПРЕВРАЩЕНИЯ ИДЕИ В МАТЕРИАЛЬНОЕ ВОПЛОЩЕНИЕ. FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
GM: WE ARE INTERESTING IN ANY WORK WHICH ALLOWS SHOW POTENTIAL AND GIVE REIN TO IDEAS AND CREATIVITY. / ИНТЕРЕСНА ЛЮБАЯ РАБОТА, В КОТОРОЙ МОЖНО ПРОЯВИТЬ СВОЙ ПОТЕНЦИАЛ И ДАТЬ ВОЛЮ ИДЕЯМ И КРЕАТИВУ.

FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
GM: THE PROJECT TURNS OUT GOOD ONLY WHEN ALL THE COMPONENTS OF THE DESIGN, FROM THE BEAUTY TO THE FUNCTIONALITY, EQUALLY COMBINES IN IT, SO WE TRY TO PAY ATTENTION TO ALL ASPECTS. / ПРОЕКТ ПОЛУЧАЕТСЯ ХОРОШИМ ТОЛЬКО ТОГДА, КОГДА В НЕМ В РАВНОЙ СТЕПЕНИ СОЧЕТАЮТСЯ ВСЕ СОСТАВЛЯЮЩИЕ ДИЗАЙНА, ОТ КРАСОТЫ ДО ФУНКЦИОНАЛЬНОСТИ, ПОЭТОМУ МЫ СТАРАЕМСЯ УДЕЛЯТЬ ВНИМАНИЕ ВСЕМ АСПЕКТАМ.

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
GM: EACH IDEA IS BORN IN DIFFERENT WAYS, SOME COME EASILY IN EFFERVESCENT IMPULSE, AND SOME THROUGH EXCRUCIATION AND WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY. THEREFORE, THE DESIGN PROCESS TOUCHES ON THE WHOLE RANGE OF EMOTIONS: FROM CREATIVE TORMENTS TO ENJOYMENT OF VICTORY. / КАЖДАЯ ИДЕЯ РОЖДАЕТСЯ ПО РАЗНОМУ, НЕКОТРЫЕ ПРИХОДЯТ ЛЕГКО В ИСКРОМЕТНОМ ПОРЫВЕ, А НЕКОТОРЫЕ – СКВОЗЬ ТЕРЗАНИЯ И С БОЛЬШИМ ТРУДОМ. ПОЭТОМУ ПРОЦЕСС ПРОЕКТИРОВАНИЯ ЗАТРАГИВАЕТ ВЕСЬ СПЕКТР ЭМОЦИЙ: ОТ ТВОРЧЕСКИХ МУК ДО НАСЛАЖДЕНИЯ ПОБЕДОЙ.

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
GM: IF THE DESIGN IS REALIZED EXACTLY AS IT WAS INTENDED, THAT OF COURSE IT IS A SATISFACTION, AND ALSO THE FEELING «WEIGHT OFF ONE’S MIND», BECAUSE. ANY REALIZATION OF THE PROJECT ASSOCIATED WITH SERIOUS AND OFTEN PROLONGED LABOUR. / ЕСЛИ ДИЗАЙН РЕАЛИЗОВАН ИМЕННО ТАК, КАК БЫЛО ЗАДУМАНО, ТО КОНЕЧНО ЖЕ УДОВЛЕТВОРЕНИЕ, А ТАКЖЕ ОЩУЩЕНИЕ «ГОРЫ С ПЛЕЧ», Т.К. ЛЮБАЯ РЕАЛИЗАЦИЯ ПРОЕКТА СВЯЗАНА С ТЯЖЕЛЫМ И ЗАЧАСТУЮ ДЛИТЕЛЬНЫМ ТРУДОМ.

FS: What makes a design successful?
GM: A GOOD IDEA, FOR WHICH THERE IS A CLEARLY THOUGHT-OUT FUNCTION, AS WELL AS THE POSITIVE ASSESSMENT OF THE PROFESSIONAL COMMUNITY, OR THE CONSUMER. / УДАЧНАЯ ИДЕЯ, ЗА КОТОРОЙ СТОИТ ЧЕТКО ПРОДУМАННАЯ ФУНКЦИЯ, А ТАКЖЕ ПОЛОЖИТЕЛЬНАЯ ОЦЕНКА ПРОФЕССИОНАЛЬНОГО СООБЩЕСТВА ИЛИ ЖЕ ПОТРЕБИТЕЛЯ.

FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
GM: MOST OFTEN, THE FIRST CRITERION FOR EVALUATION IS THE IDEA, ITS ORIGINALITY, IF IT IS EXPRESSED APPROPRIATELY IN THIS PROJECT. AT FIRST, THE EVALUATION OCCURS AT AN INTUITIVE LEVEL, AND THAT PARTICULAR FEELING SETS YOUR ATTITUDE TO THE DESIGN. AFTERWARDS YOU START TO EVALUATE THE PROJECT FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF OTHER CRITERIA. / ЧАЩЕ ВСЕГО, ПЕРВЫМ КРИТЕРИЕМ ОЦЕНКИ ЯВЛЯЕТСЯ ИДЕЯ, ЕЕ НОВИЗНА, ХОРОШО ЛИ ОНА ВЫРАЖЕНА В ДАННОМ ПРОЕКТЕ. СНАЧАЛА ОЦЕНКА ПРОИСХОДИТ НА ИНТУИТИВНОМ УРОВНЕ И ИМЕННО ЭТО ПЕРВОЕ ОЩУЩЕНИЕ ЗАДАЕТ ТВОЕ ОТНОШЕНИЕ К ДИЗАЙНУ. ДАЛЕЕ НАЧИНАЕШЬ ОЦЕНИВАТЬ ПРОЕКТ С ТОЧКИ ЗРЕНИЯ ВСЕХ ОСТАЛЬНЫХ КРИТЕРИЕВ.

FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
GM: THE ARCHITECT / DESIGNER MUST ALWAYS REMEMBER: WHATEVER INTERESTING BE HIS CONCEPT, IT IS, IN THE FIRST PLACE, SHOULD BE FUNCTIONAL, MEET THE NEEDS OF THE SOCIETY AND FIT IN WITH THE ENVIRONMENT. / АРХИТЕКТОР / ДИЗАЙНЕР ВСЕГДА ДОЛЖЕН ПОМНИТЬ, ЧТО КАКОЙ БЫ ИНТЕРЕСНОЙ НЕ БЫЛА ЕГО КОНЦЕПЦИЯ, ОНА, В ПЕРВУЮ ОЧЕРЕДЬ, ДОЛЖНА БЫТЬ ФУНКЦИОНАЛЬНОЙ, ОТВЕЧАТЬ ПОТРЕБНОСТЯМ ОБЩЕСТВА И ВПИСЫВАТЬСЯ В ОКРУЖАЮЩУЮ СРЕДУ.

FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
GM: THERE ARE NO CLEAR RULES FOR DRAWING OF INSPIRATION, BUT WORKING TOWARDS ARE: TRAVELLING, COMMUNICATION WITH PASSION FOR DESIGN PEOPLE, WATCHING CREATIVE IDEAS OF CONTEMPORARIES AND WORKS OF THE METERS AND CLASSICS OF THE DESIGN. / ДЛЯ ПРИВЛЕЧЕНИЯ ВДОХНОВЕНИЯ НЕТ ЧЕТКИХ ПРАВИЛ, НО ЭТОМУ СПОСОБСТВУЮТ: ПУТЕШЕСТВИЯ, ОБЩЕНИЕ С ЗАРЯЖЕННЫМИ ДИЗАЙНОМ ЛЮДЬМИ, ПРОСМОТР КРЕАТИВНЫХ ИДЕЙ СОВРЕМЕННИКОВ И РАБОТ МЕТРОВ И КЛАССИКОВ ДИЗАЙНА.

FS: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
GM: OF COURSE, THE MOST INTERESTING THING IN THE DESIGNERS WORK IS AN ELEMENT OF CREATIVITY, AND THE NEGATIVE SIDES ARE CONSIST OF FINANCIAL, BUREAUCRATIC, AND TECHNICAL BARRIERS ON THE WAY OF THE IDEAS MANIFESTATION / КОНЕЧНО ЖЕ, САМОЕ ИНТЕРЕСНОЕ В РАБОТЕ ДИЗАЙНЕРА – ЭЛЕМЕНТ ТВОРЧЕСТВА, А К НЕГАТИВНЫМ СТОРОНАМ МОЖНО ОТНЕСТИ ВСТРЕЧАЮЩИЕСЯ ФИНАНСОВЫЕ, БЮРОКРАТИЧЕСКИЕ И ТЕХНИЧЕСКИЕ ПРЕПЯТСТВИЯ (ПРИПОНЫ) НА ПУТИ ВОПЛОЩЕНИЯ ИДЕИ В РЕАЛЬНОСТЬ

FS: What is your "golden rule" in design?
GM: EVERYTHING MUST BE AD REM AND EVERYTHING MUST BE SUFFICIENTLY / ВСЕ К МЕСТУ И ВСЕ В МЕРУ

FS: What skills are most important for a designer?
GM: THE CAPABILITY TO THINK CREATIVELY AND TO HAVE A PROFESSIONAL APPROACH / УМЕНИЕ КРЕАТИВНО МЫСЛИТЬ И ИМЕТЬ ПРОФЕССИОНАЛЬНЫЙ ПОДХОД

FS: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?
GM: A PENCIL AND PAPER, TO COMMIT AND NOT TO FORGET A FLEETING IDEA IN THE FORM OF SKETCH, AFTERWARDS MORE DETAILED ELABORATION OF THE IDEAS ON THE COMPUTER: 3D MAX, ARCHICAD, AUTOCAD, PHOTOSHOP, AND MANY OTHER APPLICATIONS ALLOW TO DO IT TO THE FULL. / КАРАНДАШ И БУМАГА, ЧТОБЫ ЗАФИКСИРОВАТЬ И НЕ ЗАБЫТЬ МИМОЛЕТНУЮ ИДЕЮ В ВИДЕ СКЕТЧА, А ДАЛЕЕ ДЕТАЛЬНАЯ ПРОРАБОТКА ИДЕИ НА КОМПЬЮТЕРЕ: 3D MAX, ARCHICAD, AUTOCAD, PHOTOSHOP И МНОГИЕ ДРУГИЕ ПРИЛОЖЕНИЯ ПОЗВОЛЯЮТ СДЕЛАТЬ ЭТО В ПОЛНОЙ МЕРЕ.

FS: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?
GM: IDEALLY, THE DESIGN PROCESS IS DIVIDED INTO SEVERAL STAGES, IS ALLOCATED A CONDITIONAL AMOUNT OF TIME FOR EACH OF THEM, THE TIME-TABLE SHALL BE DRAWN UP, DEVIATION FROM WHICH IS NOT DESIRABLE. OF COURSE, IT SOMETIMES HAPPENS, AND THEN A HUGE AMOUNT OF WORK MUST TO DO IN THE LAST MOMENT, THIS IS REMINISCENT OF THE STUDENT SESSIONS. / В ИДЕАЛЕ, ПРОЦЕСС ПРОЕКТИРОВАНИЯ РАЗБИВАЕТСЯ НА НЕСКОЛЬКО ЭТАПОВ, ВЫДЕЛЯЕТСЯ УСЛОВНОЕ КОЛИЧЕСТВО ВРЕМЕНИ НА КАЖДЫЙ ИЗ НИХ, СОСТАВЛЯЕТСЯ ГРАФИК, ОТКЛОНЕНИЕ ОТ КОТОРОГО НЕЖЕЛАТЕЛЬНО. FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?
GM: EXACTLY SO MUCH, HOW MANY ARE ALLOCATED FOR THIS. OF COURSE, TOO SHORT TIME WILL NOT CUT INTO WELL ELABORATION OF THE PROJECT, BUT ALSO DECEPTIVE IMPRESSION THAT THE MORE TIME WILL BE ALLOCATED FOR THE PROJECT, THE BETTER IT WILL BE EXECUTED. / РОВНО СТОЛЬКО, СКОЛЬКО НА ЭТО ВЫДЕЛЕНО. КОНЕЧНО ЖЕ, ЧЕРЕСЧУР СЖАТЫЕ СРОКИ НЕ ОТРАЗЯТСЯ ХОРОШО НА ПРОРАБОТКЕ ПРОЕКТА, НО ТАКЖЕ ОБМАНЧИВО ВПЕЧАТЛЕНИЕ, ЧТО ЧЕМ БОЛЬШЕ ВРЕМЕНИ БУДЕТ ВЫДЕЛЕНО НА ПРОЕКТ, ТЕМ ЛУЧШЕ ОН БУДЕТ ИСПОЛНЕН.
