Interview with Khalil Taleeslami at Friday 27th of March 2020 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? KT: From my childhood I was interested in making and making my own supplies like reading lamps, solid bags, quilts for games and more. By the time I was in second grade, my grandparents' home and my uncle were damaged by the flood. I made a design that is still safe and in use. I'm very interested in new design and innovation. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? KT: I worked in my own office for 4 years and now I have been teaching and designing at Bu Ali Sina University for 15 years. FS: What is "design" for you? KT: My love and all the reason I am in this world - I have no sense in the world without design. FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? KT: Industrial design and design for the future, especially for other planets like Mars. FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it? KT: My favorite design is a design that utilizes all the facilities and technology to meet all human desires. FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company? KT: A logo. Next to the Hamedan-Iran Holy Defense Museum. FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? KT: Space Technologies-Zero Energy-Wood Material-Future Travel Technology. FS: When do you feel the most creative? KT: Generally always, but late at night or early in the morning. FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? KT: While responding to the desired performance, innovation, beauty and maximum simplicity. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? KT: Sense of creativity and innovation and usefulness. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? KT: Indescribable satisfaction and joy. FS: What makes a design successful? KT: Perseverance, creativity and love of design and creativity. Having a specific and simplified purpose. FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? KT: Creativity and responsiveness to demands, good performance, simplicity and beauty as much as possible FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment? KT: Creating a lively and relaxed environment FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design? KT: Design is approaching the transformation of technology into desires.The future will be design by artificial intelligence and by human management FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition? KT: My last exhibition was on January 2020 at the Azadi Innovation Factory in Tehran.Maybe in the summer, in Berlin FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations? KT: My design inspiration comes from several places depending on the type of design. Nature, human beings, science fiction and films, other people's works and designs and ... But the basic premise of seeing it right and seeing it again and again is different. FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design? KT: My design style is more minimalist and simplistic with aesthetic and good functionality and my approach is to look at everything from a new angle. FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country? KT: I live in the historical country of Iran and in the historical city of Hamedan. Yes, the history of my country has a direct influence on my plans. Due to a lack of facilities, a few of my projects will hardly ever become a reality. If I were in a country with more facilities and support, my work would be brighter or global. FS: How do you work with companies? KT: I generally work less with companies due to the problem of copyright infringement in my country. FS: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer? KT: There is a good Persian saying that be the best seed without the soil And you will not flourish properly if you flourish you will not be what you should be.
