This page gives you general ideas about how to write an article about design, arts, architecture, design products or related media to promote yourself. There are two platforms that provide you free access; DesignAmid and PRHow.

Why submit an Article?
Reach new audiences, find new customers and publicize your name. Submit an article, and get it published in order to attract web visitors and business leads and to spread your name. Chances are, if someone lands on the pages which feature your work or article, they’re thinking about purchasing a product or service you provide. Better quality articles and more of them online equals to better results. Articles also help you increase your reliability by increasing your visibility; the more we see something, the more familiar we become and the more familiar we are, the more we are likely to trust.

Who is the Audience of your Article?
Architecture and design oriented readers, including but not limited to architects, designers, builders, developers, specifies, illustrators, photographers, interior designers, graphic designers, fashion designers, stylists, as well as other people who have deep interest in arts, architecture, lifestyle and technology who are looking to learn about new products, services and find inspiration in featured designs and case studies. 

What to Write and What to Not Write
Below for DesignAmid and PRHow we list what to write and here is what not to write: 1) Do not simply upload brochures, instead make a showcase article. 2) Do not simply add a link without any context, a strong copy must accompany. 3) Old Products or Old News; if it is not timely or new, it is not newsworty so better avoid this. 4) Non-narrative; you must create a story, you cannot send research findings, product specifications, information or statistics or any type of raw data without a story. Remember to comply with the Editorial Guidelines.

What you need?
1) Images (1 to 20) depending on where you write, make sure they are in jpeg format. 2) Editorial Text that will go with your images. 3) Read this page to avoid any issues.

How Much do I Pay?
Nothing, the service is provided free of charge to A' Design Award winners but just because we provide it for free does not make it less valuable; this is indeed an expensive service that requires substential infrastructure and effort and you would be paying a lot of money if you would buy such service.

How do I Start?
Easy, just write an article at designamid or prhow, see below for some details to write the perfect article that create the biggest impact for your brand and business.


DesignAmid Magazine
DesignAmid magazine is a co-created magazine that publishes educative articles about design. These articles do appear in search results and provide opportunity for article publishes to disseminate themselves further. You can use this system up to 3 times a year for each award winning work.

How does it work? - DesignAmid Magazine
You could write an article about a subject that you have the expertise of, and include your link to this article. As the expert voice, people would refer to you and your article in the future. Writing an article about your niche defines your authority on the knowledge domain further and thus helps you to get more business leads, offers and opportunities.

How can I write an Article at Design Amid?
Simply visit designamid.com and login with your A' Design Award credentials. The best practice is to prepare your article in advance. Prepare an article with 19 paragraphs plus 1 headline, 1 subtitle and 5 to 10 keywords, a link to more information (preferably your website) plus you should create 20 images for each of the paragraphs + headline. Images are really important as they help you to get real impact from the process. Headline should be 600x600 pixels, other images should be at least 600 pixels width, all jpeg. The system is pretty much automated however articles are only published they are confirmed by the administrator. Please note that, for the relevant website section, you can use your own website or A' Design Awards profile pages.

What to write About at Design Amid Magazine?
DesignAmid magazine aims to be educative, therefore your articles should give insights, and provide knowledge to readers. You can talk about:

  1. Designing a particular type of product, service or project: An example title would be: "20 Key elements to consider when designing arm chairs for offices". As you see, the article should be niche; it is best to write articles that are really specialized as there already exists thousands of generic articles about how to design furniture; but your article is much more relevant and thus will be shared and valued more by the online audiences.

  2. A New Product or Service: You can focus on key features and benefits, explain how it is produced or manufactured, how it was designed, imagined and improved. In addition you can integrate a Case Study to show how your product or service being used innovatively, effectively and efficently.

  3. Design tools, news and opportunities: You can discuss about some of the design tools you use, some new ways of designing and other relevant information that have news value. It is important that this is not a press release, an editorial article where you tell in detail how some tools could be used to increase efficiency etc.

  4. Your Office or Design Department and Its' Principles: You can feature your office and how you do design, arts or architecture, or product design with other designers, artists and architects, but especially upcoming designers. Write about for instance "20 Design Principles" you follow, or "How X-Design Designs". "Architectural Principles" etc.

  5. Best of Examples: You can write an article about the "20 Good Examples of X-Design" where you could feature 20 different examples of good design regarding a particular subject. Again, it is best to choose a niche in your specialization. Please also make sure to get the rights to use the images in your articles from the copyright owners.

  6. Details about how you accomplished a particular project: Did you design an award winning product, architectural piece, artwork or concept? Share with the world about how you did it so good, make sure the article is educative. You can talk about the awards you win, about the process of design, about the team members and their roles etc.

  7. A Fair or Event that you attended to: Not pictures of your booth, but general coverage of the event, including your booth or your participation if any. Tell why the event is important, who joined, what was the benefits etc. It is best to include some personal suggestions and insights regarding the event in an editorial manner.

  8. Design Philosophy: Do you have a philosophy regarding design? Do you have a manifesto? Do you have a word to say about how it should be done? Write an article about your design-philosophy to share it with the rest of the world.

  9. Industry Commentary and Solutions: You might showcase how your product can solve specific problems or you can think on hot topics and trends, regulations, standards and new technologies and make an article that discusses these with connection to your offerings.

  10. Anything else that is useful and educative: You can write about any subject that might be considered useful, comprehensive and educative about design. To see what others wrote, simply check designamid.com

PRHow Article Distribution
Very similar to the DesignAmid platform, you can also publish your news, events and any other promotional content through PRHow Platform. The PRHow's standard distribution service is provided free of charge to all award winners, and the PRHow platform distributes your news to a different network different than the designamid platform to ensure a further reach. You can use this system up to 5 times a year for each award winning work.

How does it work? - PRHow Syndication Network
You could write an article about a contemporary subject that relates to your business or profession, the ultimate purpose is to promote your brand identity through the articles which would help to channel visitors when information is searched based on the topic you write for. Different from DesignAmid, the content does not need to be educative and can be purely promotional or informative but should be tied to uptodate events and news. Please note that, for the relevant website / link section, you can only provide either your own website url link or A' Design Awards profile pages url link for the content to be distributed.

How can I write an Article at PRHow?
Register and create your article at designmags.com (a new registration is required for designmags platform). PRHOW will distribute your unique editorial article regarding your design, product or your business. Your article is automatically placed on PRHOW design content syndication network composed of 50+ design blogs and publications. Prepare an article with 1 single paragraph plus 1 headline, 1 subtitle and 5 to 10 keywords, a link to more information (preferably your website) and date could also be provided, plus you should create 1 main image for each the article. Both the main image and the paragraph contents are really important as they help you to get real impact from the process. Your main image should be 600x600 pixels in 72dpi jpeg format. The system is pretty much automated however articles are only published they are confirmed by the administrator.

What to write for PRHow?
PRHow network aims to be promotive & news oriented, therefore your articles should be related to up-to-date events and news relating your business.

  1. New Product or Design Release: An example title would be: X Design Company releases the New Y product. In this type of post, please provide a beautiful, aesthetically appealing image of the new product and a few words about the product. You can discuss about new product or service releases. Changes in pricing, especially reductions or technology improvements. New trademarks orpublications. New uses for your products or services. Unusual products or services that you offer.

  2. Event Organization or Participation: You can discuss or share your insights regarding a design event you have participated or an event that you organized to help you promote the event or your own brand identity through further spread.

  3. Award, Certifications or Achievements: You can publish about your other awards, certifications and achievements, including competitor design awards. However, we kindly request that you choose the link to your own profile at A' Design Award when sharing information regarding other awards achievements.

  4. Company Anniversaries, Celebrations: You can write an article about your company anniversaries, particular celebrations and success stories such as contracts that you have won, clients you have obtained, testimonials given by customers etc

  5. News & Current Affairs: You can share news that tie in with current news events such as adapting a national survey or report for local use, stage an event to tie with a holiday or special occassion or making an analysis or prediction. You could publish a summary of facts or summary of whitepapers.

  6. Community Activities: You may share information relating to Your company's contributions to the community, Employees volunteering time to help the community, Civil activities, Fund-raising or other events for the local community, Sponsoring local programs or events, Available internships with local schools, Scholarship, Open days and community exhibits, Institutional honors, Appearing before a public body etc.

  7. Staff Promotion: Do you have a particular staff member, design team member you wish to promote? You could talk about: Awards won by employees, New training programs for employees, Qualifications received by employees, Appointments, Retirements, Long-term employees, including anniversies, Staff promotions, Form committees, or announce membership for committees etc.

  8. Company News: You can mention your new awards, achievements, new projects, competition victories, distribution deals, upcoming tradeshows and events, research and development updates and other news on your company.

  9. Expert Answers: You might profile a topic area or consult to an expert from within or outside your organization to make question and answer sessions that relate to your industry.

  10. Anything else that is fresh & news: You can write about any subject that might be considered up to date with current events to promote your company or news.
