DESIGN NAME: Art Parade
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential
INSPIRATION: Different from the normal residences, this is a space where the client and family spend only a short period of time. Therefore, the main consideration is not to emphasize the layout efficiency, but how to maximize the visual openness within a limited floor area. The client appeals for high-level decoration and aesthetics. The designer hopes that on each corner, different taste of arts can be presented, highlighting the unique living aesthetics of the client.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is a highly experimental residential design. In response to the unique aesthetic and artistic preferences of the client, various elements such as colorful color palettes, diverse totems, and large scale murals must be harmoniously integrated into each functional area within a limited space. It also matches with the decoration materials, to achieve balance, rich and harmonious visual effect.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The previous client of this more than ten years old building originally covered the space with a lot of wooden sideboard. Based on the site characteristic that has three-sided wrap-around balcony, and the rearrangement of the layout plan according to the needs of the current client, the design team formed a design with views and abundant sunlight in each functional area.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Since this project is not for a long term stay, the demand of the furniture can be reduced to a minimum and restore the openness of the space. With the advantage of multi-faceted windows and good lighting, the designer captured the bright and simple characteristic of modern style, combining the elegant classical style with Neoclassical aesthetics. In response to expectation of the client, each area has its representative elements and concepts, the entire space has high quality materials, rich color schemes, totems and murals, which presents vivid levels and strong visual sense, yet still retain the elegance and comfort.
CHALLENGE: Due to the great difference between the original layout and the needs of the client, demolition must be done before starting the design process. The difficulties that need to be overcome in the process are the design and reconciliation of all decorative elements. On the one hand, the imagination of the client must be fully and specifically conveyed; while the colors of each image must be balanced with each other to create a harmonious space.
