| DESIGN NAME: Cube PRIMARY FUNCTION: Illuminated Sculpture INSPIRATION: The exclusive structure of the Yakobium sandstone sculptures is inspired by Bohemian Paradise in the Czech Republic and its unique rock formations. Since the site and the rock formations are marked as national heritage, crafting an object of this unique piece of nature is out of the question. So, with our unique technological process, everyone can enjoy the unique structures at home without harming nature. The inspiration comes from visits to the national heritage site. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Yakobium sandstone sculptures are unmatched, and without our novel technological process, they cannot and have never been created before. The structure mimics natural rock formation, and every single sculpture is unique since it is finalized by hand. In addition to the structure, they are illuminated from within, creating specific ambient lighting. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The sculpture can be placed in the interior only. You can switch on the light source and switch between a number of different modes to adjust the illumination. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in 2012 with a prototype. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Production includes sketching, 3d modeling, 3d printing, CNC milling, handicraft, and finishing. Also including colorization and lamp production. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 300 x 300 x 300 mm TAGS: sandstone, sculpture, illuminated, rock formation, light object RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research behind this object was to develop an innovative process to create well-balanced art resembling the inspiration from the Bohemian Paradise rock formations while the end product was sturdy but a lightweight. Also, a lot of research went into the finishing and possible customizations such as size, color, and light source. CHALLENGE: Inventing the technological process, so the sculpture was firm to the required shape and still with the original artwork reminiscent of rock formations.
