DESIGN NAME: Lodge of Memories
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residence
INSPIRATION: As the inspiration came from the love for travel of the client, with the experience of flying across different destinations, the team redefined the sense of comfort. The overall residence was designed with the yearning of the client for the style of his favored posh hotels, and through the resonance of each kind of heterogeneous materials, the design team has created a boutique residence that is more comfortable than hotels.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This design anchors on the theme of travel, as the client sought to fuse all the elements of foreign encounters into everyday life. The design team adopts a painted stainless and titanium-plated metal bathtub in manifesting precise metalwork standard. Apart from the curved surface to embellish the architectural beam, a silver-fox mosaic curved wall was made to fuse with a large curved-screen TV that the client has longed for years.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The project was started with unfinished concrete interior, the design team adjusted the initial layout by expanding the master bedroom and walk-in closet for the client which added the functional elements to the overall interior. Due to insufficient natural lighting, the design team deployed different spatial formats to overcome, such as adding linear lighting source in the living room, as well as crafting the dining area into a stylish lounge bar complemented by bright blue kilned mosaic brick wall to bring out the exquisite quality of premium hotels.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was completed in 2019 January, in Taichung City, Taiwan.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: This project is of an internal area of 66 square meters with the original layout of 3 rooms, living room and dining room. However, in order for the residence to be more functional, the design team changed the layout to 2 plus 1 rooms to adhere client's need.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: As the client couple are travel enthusiasts, it was this yearning that inspired the design team to consolidate all traveling aspirations of the client before channeling them into exquisitely crafted spatial features such as the back wall to the sofa, the design team chose Manhattan skyline to accentuate the original spaciousness of the living room, with the quartz tile at the entrance complemented by grey cement wall for a meditative effect, along with yellow color sparking throughout the interior in embellishing the low-profile luxury look.
CHALLENGE: As the design team incorporated the elements of foreign encounters into the design of this residence, with a painted stainless and titanium-plated metal bathtub for the master bedroom, along with the curved wall, both of which presented many challenges during the construction process.
