PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Stool

INSPIRATION:
I got inspired by nature. I wanted to make a design that looked like a peacock that impressed me the most in nature. My target was a furniture unit that looked like the open-width tail of the peacock. When stools and coffee table come together, they were should see the peacock. And the stool represents the peacock's tail, the coffee table represent the peacock's body in my design.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
These pieces of design, when used separately, they look like ordinary furniture, but when used together, they look like an abstracted peacock drawing. The designer of the peacock furniture thinks like this; people should choose the furniture that reflects some of the symbols. these symbols can be cultural, emotional or reflecting an idea. in the iconography of Turkish arts, the peacock symbolizes a magnificence. So, trying to reflect this iconography by this furniture. This idea was tried to be reflected in the furniture with this iconography

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
These pieces of decorative furniture can create a good ambiance in the corner of your home. thanks to the minimal lines, it does not give a complex feeling in your home. Also, you can use the stools for a coffee table at the same time, when you sat on your couch.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in November 2019 İstanbul, Turkey. The furniture design was made by Merve Geçer. Its main purpose was bringing the national culture's symbol in the houses but not directly because of this reason it is a perfectly conceived design.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The main material used is wood. Oak is preferred as the type of wood. The stools consist of angled laths. The furniture's foot parts are fixed to the bottom of the table by placing them on a Y-shaped base. And it has 3 foot. Wood and glass are used as materials in the coffee table. A hexagonal frame is cut and the joint gap is opened. A glass consisting of two pieces is placed in this joint. These glasses are fixed to the wooden part, which resembles a peacock, placed in the center of the coffee table.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
people generally prefer an ordinary simple coffee table. But according to researches, people enjoy living in homes where decorative objects are used. So, the object, which has a meaning with this design, is made decorative.

CHALLENGE:
The peacock furniture design became three stools and one coffee table. When all of the furniture's part brings together, It forms a peacock. The hardest part of the product is finishing details.
