DESIGN NAME:
Serene Spring

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Residence

INSPIRATION:
As the TV wall in the living remains predominantly white, complemented with blue and white tiles, such minimalist and simple modern living style is what the client wants. The design team utilized the blue color favored by the female client as a sharp contrast in the elegant corridor fused with rhythmic energy.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The overall design embodied the devoted religious belief of the client, readily seen in the cross motif and biblical quotes installed on the entrance screen, which was instrumental in offering a reflective setting, as well as an epitome of the family spirit and principle of this family.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
As the original bathroom was too big in area which was indeed wasted space, once the layout was adjusted, the private spaces received better dimension. With the existing ceiling all sealed flush giving a low ceiling height with the structural beam visually apparent, appropriate ceiling work and direct lighting also solved the aforementioned problems.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project was finished in April, 2019 in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Imported Tiles, Timber Veneer, Laminated Sheet, Metal Work, Glass, Special Tiles

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
The design area of this project is 218 square meters in total, comprised of living room, open dining room, kitchen, 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Given the view of the great city skyline being a major advantage for the site of this project, and since the longitudinal public domain only has single side with natural lighting, for which the design team utilized large window area with open plan layout and glass sliding doors to bring in natural lighting, which rightly catered for the needs of the client to host religious gathering, while the interior was of grey white color base with some contrasting color patches for maximum visual vitality.

CHALLENGE:
Since the client wishes to have enough storage function for this design, without compromising the visual grandeur, how to organize many cabinet spaces under the overall aesthetics while maintaining the simplicity of line work, was a major challenge for the design team.
