DESIGN NAME: Jinx
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Digital experience
INSPIRATION: Going to go great own my own, accurate data and perfect coaching.
There is no one to correct your posture when it is wrong. Also, taking a yoga or pilates for the first time can be frightening and awkward and learning the correct form for yoga positions while breathing properly is harder than it sounds. Yoga and pilates are especially hard because they require the perfect posture of the users' legs and arms.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Jinx is an active workout method that focuses on the Internet of things to get user's biodata. As the user begins a workout, it corrects the user's pose along the way. Offering suggestions so hands, feet, and the rest of the user's body are in alignment.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Starting with mat and clothes via wireless Bluetooth to give you real-time feedback on your practice. Combining this calculated information allows Jinx to reconstruct your exact motions. Smartphone or monitor is synced with smart mat & clothes, it will automatically alert the user. Smart clothes are equipped with an Omni Motion 3D Sensor and Haptic technology to gather data of body movement. Smart mat is equipped with a textile-type flexible pressure sensor and vibration technology.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Jinx was designed and developed in May 2017 to October 2017 at Parsons School of Design.

Yoga and pilates are especially hard because they require the perfect posture of the users' legs and arms.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: OMNI Motion 3D sensor is detecting the user's body movement, Haptic technology with a flexible sensor is installed inside of the clothes that the user wears and what it does is perceiving the user's body movement as well. A pressure sensor is installed on the Yoga mat that is detecting how much pressure the user is giving to have a correct posture. Lastly,
a vibration sensor which is installed inside of the clothes is vibrating when the user's posture is wrong.
CHALLENGE: One of the challenges during development was what kind of technology would be helpful to correct the user's postures and how to detect their body movement in real time. Another challenge was how to design the user interface and experience in a way that people can easily understand to use.
