PRIMARY FUNCTION:
ResponsiveWebsite-Money Transfer Service

INSPIRATION:
LineMoney reached out and wanted to build the product targeting at the young generation. Based on the user and market research conducted in the past, there is a market opportunity for a responsive website app delivering international money transfer service with low and transparent service fees and instant transfer time. I'm a firm believer that design can solve business problems. So I decided to work on this project.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
What makes this responsive website app unique are: 1) the design pattern meets young people's requirements. It adopts the flat and minimalist design style. 2) the simplified intuitive process to set up a wire transfer request which only needs a few seconds, including entering the amount of money, adding sender information, adding recipient information, and viewing a summary page illustrating the service fee and processing time. 3) The table to compare the service fees with others' service fees. This allows users to know how much they save when they use this website instead of others.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
This responsive website is thought to be intuitive user experience without lengthy enrollment and verification flow. The user is able to quickly create an account with the product and find out the interest rate table. The user can compare the interest rate and service fee with other competitors. What's more, the user can switch the devices seamlessly.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
This project started in July 2018 and finalized in March 2019. The location is NYC.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The creation of this responsive website app is mainly based on Agile development. As for the research part, the data was collected through SurveyMonkey and was analyzed via SPSS. The graphics, wireframes, and hi-fi mockups were created in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Sketch. The interactive prototype was created in InVision. Then, the design deliverables were handed off to the development team. It was finally built by HTML, CSS, JAVA, PHP, and Phyton. Finally, 10 usability testings regarding the prototype were conducted in Usertesting.com website to get real feedback from the users. Then, the iteration work is needed to improve the overall user experience.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
At the beginning of this project, market research was conducted by analyzing competitors' products in Excel. We found out that there were a limited number of third-party products providing international money transfer service. They all share the same issue: bad user experience regarding the lengthy enrollment process and verification flow. Even though lots of bankings provide this service, there is no detailed look at the types of service fees and the fees are expensive. Then, user research was conducted through WeChat to create accurate persona for the product. By the end of this project, a total of 10 usability testings were implemented with the cooperation of Usertesting.com.

CHALLENGE:
The challenge for this project is to know who is our target users and what's their natural behaviors and what's their aesthetically pleasing design. At the early stage of this project, the groups of users that we want to target were not clear. There are so many different types people want to send money internationally. Some of them will do the transfer frequently, some are not. In order to solve the problem, we conducted user research. We found out that most of the senior participants tend to stick with the banking products to transfer money. They did not trust the third-party platform and they were fine with the unclear and expensive service fee. However, only young participants want to give it a try. They want to try third-party money transferring product with instant or quick delivery time and a low and transparent service fee. Therefore, we finally found our target users.
