INSPIRATION:
Nowadays, natural disasters have been affecting our life. Flood, as a very common natural disaster, exists around us.We should do some public early warning type product design to protect people's safety.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
"Floating Elves" is a public utility product that alerts people to avoid deep water, when the external water pressure reaches a certain value.The thin film at the bottom will be triggered and connect the circuit to emit a laser. Meanwhile, as there is gas space inside the product, it will float on the water immediately after triggering. This product can be applied to the inside of speed bumps which is generated by pressure and the both sides of the river banks.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Car are easily trapped due to drivers' poor judgement during floods. Electricity is generated by pressure and stored everytime a car runs over the speed reducer. The chassis will release the product floats to the surface, and the top laser lamp will emit laser, forming an alarming beam. As the driver was driving, he saw a very visible light column on the water in front of him. This allows drivers to stop and adjust their path in time.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in Ningbo in September 2018 , and completed in Ningbo in December 2018 , and will be on display in Beijing in December 2019.

Flood disaster is one of the most serious natural disasters in the world. Flood usually occurs in places with dense population, high agricultural reclamation, concentrated rivers and lakes and abundant rainfall, such as warm temperate zone and subtropical zone in the northern hemisphere.China and Bangladesh are the most frequent flood disaster areas in the world, and the United States, Japan, India and Europe are also more serious flood disasters.
