DESIGN NAME: Titik
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Salt Control Shaker
INSPIRATION: According to scientific research, hypertension is a very common disease, at least 1 of 7 people suffers from it. Diet is the most effective way to control high blood pressure, and salt controlling is an important part of it. Hypertensive patients are always required to keep the intake of salt within 6g. But it is quite difficult for them, and there are few products to help them.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: TiTiK is designed to help hypertensive patients control daily salt intake. It can adjust the amount of salt according to the number of people. By twisting the spring and inverting the bottle, salt slowly falls off. You can see the process through the glass, hearing the spring turning around. With Titik, the controlling of salt becomes not only effective but interesting.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Twist the torsion spring to set the amount, and then turn the bottle upside down. Now you can see the salt fall like in an hourglass. And you can also hear the torsion spring turn around. Then take the bottle up and sprinkle salt when cooking.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in December 2018 and finished in February 2019 in China.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The rotation of the torsion spring controls the falling of salt. And the amount is decided by the rotated angle.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Although controlling salt intake is important for hypertensive patients, most of them take in too much salt every day, far more than the suggested intake. Because they can't control the amount of salt accurately,meanwhile,the existing products are too complex for patients to use. Therefore, we hope our project can really help the hypertensive patients control the daily salt intake and decrease the blood pressure.
CHALLENGE: We struggle to figure out how to use the shaker in a simple and smooth way,and strive to make the process more interesting.
