PRIMARY FUNCTION:
New Mechanical Gear Structure Sharpener

INSPIRATION:
Pencil sharpener is a daily necessity for most artists, designers, cartographers and primary and middle school students. A convenient and durable pencil sharpener is indispensable. According to the research and analysis of market, there are many using question, such as dangerous and dirty, time-consuming, bulky and need effort, waste of energy.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Getting rid of a series of tedious operation of traditional pencil sharpener, and push up and down to achieve the function of cutting lead, simple and easy. Convenient to carry around, accommodate more pencil shavings, do not stain hands, do not need to clean up from time to time, no power or battery is needed, save energy.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The pencil is inserted into the pencil sharpener in the vertical direction. Press the pencil downwards, and loose it at the lowest end. The internal mechanism will rebound upwards through the internal spring mechanism to perform the second press and reciprocate several times to achieve the desired sharpness of the pencil. The operation ended. The pencil shavings will fall into the storage box below. Rotate gently in any direction, and the storage box can be removed to dump the waste.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in April 2018 in Tianjin and finished in August 2018 in that place, and was exhibited in Shantou in September 2018.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
According to the research and analysis of traditional sharpener, we find a lot of questions. Folding Sharpener: The operation is cumbersome, dangerous, easy to be dirty. The pencil chip is not easy to collect. A waste of time and energy, Not easy to use for children and women. Influencing work efficiency; Small Pencil Sharpener: Time-consuming. Need be Replaced frequently. Not durable. Need effort. Need particular environment to use. Pencil scrap everywhere; Hand Turning Pencil Sharpener: Time-consuming. Need effort. it is hard to handle, and easy to clamp hand. Need to be fixed frequently. Bulky; Electric Pencil Sharpener: Power consumption is fast;Need to connect the power or put in a battery, and cannot be used when charging; The waiting time of charging is long; it is not convenient to connect the power supply in some environment; it is not convenient to replace if the battery has no power; A waste of energy.
