| DESIGN NAME: Click PRIMARY FUNCTION: Efficient Cruet INSPIRATION: The inspiration of this design comes from the simple and interesting use experience. We want to design an action of opening and closing the cover in the use of the seasoning bottle as much as possible, so as to make the bottle more efficient. In this process, we will remind the user how much seasoning has been poured through the click sound, so as to make cooking more interesting. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is a condiment bottle that makes the cooking process more efficient. It implies the opening and closing of the lid in the whole process. The rubber band deforms with the shaking of the hand and pulls the metal ball back to realize the open and close action. The collision between the metal ball and the bottle mouth makes the click sound, which makes the experience more interesting. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The user picks up the bottle and shakes it up and down in the air. The metal ball will leave the bottle because of inertia. After the rubber band is deformed, the metal ball is pulled back to the bottle mouth, so that the opening and closing of the bottle cap are integrated into the whole process of use to improve the efficiency. At the same time, the sound of the metal ball colliding with the neck of the bottle makes the experience more interesting. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in August 2018 in Beijing and finished in October 2018 in Beijing. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The body of the cruet is made of plastic; the sides of the bottle body are made of rubber bands, which are connected with metal balls and anti-skid pads at the bottom of the bottle. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 50mm x Depth 50mm x Height 150mm TAGS: Efficient, Interesting, Magnet, Interaction, Cruet RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We experienced more than 10 kinds of seasoning bottles and found it inconvenient to open and close the lid. We divide the user behavior into several subdivided actions, with the purpose to hide the open and close actions in the use process, optimize the use process and improve the use efficiency. CHALLENGE: One of the challenges in this study is how to optimize the cruets usage process to make it more convenient, easy to use, and fun without affecting existing habits. Another challenge in this process was to determine the weight of the metal ball and the elastic force of the rubber band, so we conducted multiple tests.
