| DESIGN NAME: Sakana PRIMARY FUNCTION: Lighting INSPIRATION: Sakana is lighting based on Carl Jung’s philosophy “the shadow of self: Your darker side”. Sakana (in Japanese meaning fish) is flying and floating like a fish in the Ego's fluid space. Parts that aren’t self-illumination, can be considered like “shades of self”. The inner parts, which is self-illumination; the same as our glorious spirit, which we gave it when we were born. This lighting says: accept the shadows, and let the psych go where it wants to be, Ultimately it comes to a balance. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Sakana Lighting Set consists of 6 identical repeating forms, which per light with a length of 24 cm and a total length of approximately is about 180 cm. In form design, such as a fish, consider with the rotation and repetition of one form in space, in the sixth different position. Entirety lighting consists of aluminum with illuminated pages within the foundations for each lighting. The general height of each light is about 28 cm. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This lighting set is designed in a sensational manner and for functionally, switched on and off in the usual way. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The design and research start of this concept began in November 2018 and ended in late December 2018. The project, which is under the title of one of the lesson projects, will be presented jointly by the Department of Industrial Design at Alzahra University and the University of Firenze as title "thirteen streets hotel: furniture design for cafe and bar of the hotel"(An old house in Tehran that changed to the hotel). PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: I chose aluminum material for this design because its weight is lower and its production is more feasible; also it exactly takes the feel of the design I need: the coldness of this material is perfectly matched with the cool illumination (2700 to 3000 Kelvin for color temperature). SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Overall dimensions of this lighting set are about 1800 mm x 250 mm x 1080 mm. For each component, dimensions are about 100 mm x 250 mm x 67 mm. TAGS: story telling in design, Jungian shadow, social sustainability, Emotional design, Psychology in design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The idea of this project was related to the dissertation and one of the projects of the university; which I wanted to discover the psychological aspect of illuminations related to psych. I'm still investigating and writing an article on this subject. I tried to complete the design, in consultation with a professor at the University of Firenze, Dr. Stefano Follesa, through a social and psychological sustainability approach. CHALLENGE: For this project, I had to go somewhat about the basics of psychology, so I chose Jung's theory and I studied the main sources and generalities that were told about Jung's ideas. NAME: Mischa PROFILE: “Mischa” is a freelance designer since 2018. Interest in anthropology and psychology caused to begin study projects that are closely related to feelings and emotions. Her goal is to be able to design products that are more psychologically capable of communicating with the user and they could even mentally help them. She is striving to achieve individual sustainability via social sustainability approach.
