| DESIGN NAME: 316 Tracery PRIMARY FUNCTION: Stationery Set INSPIRATION: Inspired by the pattern of the tracery on the old houses window grille in Tainan, an old city of Taiwan, which is the most fascinating cultural element one's can find in most of the alley and corner in this city. The design was part of the +316 Home Deco branding project, by helping a local OEM & ODM factory with more than 50 years in fashion accessories market, specialty on 316L Surgical Stainless Steel accessories and other metal material fashion Jewelry. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: 316 Tracery stationery set in titanium steel, adopting the pattern of the tracery on the old houses window grille in Tainan, an old city of Taiwan, which is the most fascinating cultural element one's can find in most of the alley and corner in this city. Decorative appearance by the combination of cool titanium steel body with gold color anodizing pattern, creating a set of table top stationery with cultural heritage image, simply elegant and aesthetic. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: 316 Tracery Blossom stationery set consist of penholder, name card holder and paperweight, decorative pattern derived from old houses window grille and made from 316L surgical titanium steel material. The project sponsored by Cultural Affairs Bureau, Tainan City Government served as a cultural element preservation and promotion. Each piece of the stationery simply works well on its function and looks beautiful, overall artistic craftsmanship with style. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project was partially funded by Cultural Affairs Bureau, Tainan City Government, incorporation with Eagle Excellence Co., Ltd to promote Tainan traditional cultural elements. It started in March 2018 in Tainan, Taiwan, finished and pilot production in November 2018. |

I came out an idea of deriving local cultural elements by design, after lots of studied and researched done on the old street in Tainan, unique tracery window grilles on the old houses was chosen as the design element which was transferred into a creative stationery set of penholder, paperweight and name card holder. CHALLENGE: The most challenging issue in this project is the communication between designer and the factory. In order to let the traditional manufacturing company to transform, and to implement the design, it takes lots of time to communicate with management personnel as well as onsite worker. After several times of communication, design effort imposed. The unique shape with Chinese tracery pattern comes to realize.
