| DESIGN NAME: Sand glass PRIMARY FUNCTION: Family of wooden furniture INSPIRATION: Since I am a passionate about skiing, every year I spend at least few days on Kopaonik mountain. This mountain is situated in south-east of Serbia and the highest top of it is Pancicev vrh on 2017m of the altitude. Just beside the ski slope there are certain objects in the shape of ball, and they seem like white glowing balls getting out of the snow. Considering that a real wood dominates in my design and thinking about the beauty of the mountain, as a result of all of it I created family of products inspired by time, wood and shape of sand glass. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Family of products Sand glass are unique regarding their shape, and material they are made of. It consists of two tables, two shelves and two lamps. Sand glass is made of oak. The wooden legs in all products are the same are made on the lathe machine, and besides having been perfectly shaped, a tribute to their beauty is given by the organic oil which contains a little bit of pigments because the natural material and natural protection are predominating in the design in order to make a balance between the nature and the furniture. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The wooden legs are screwed in wooden plate. The table has three legs and two circular plate, shelf v, has twelve legs and five plates. Shelf h has two or three plate and fore or eight legs. Lamps has wooden balls and one legs. Legs are connection for the products. They could or do not need to use together. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Project started in January 2018 and finished in October 2018 in Čačak, Serbia. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Furniture Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Family Sand glass is made of oak. It is unique for it wooden legs which all product have. Every pieces from Sand glass products shelf, tables, lamp is connected with its supporters which get narrower from the end to the middle and then again getting wider. Legs are bet-vine two wooden plates so the whole structure has the appearance of a sandwich of every product. The family is made of oak but because of it shape it has impression of lightness and elegance even though is made of wood. Life time passing concept. Time is what we want most, but we use worst. Shape of sand glass for timeless design. Timeless design for good user. One table with two plate. More space on small table. Shape of sand glass even in legs. They give connection to products and connection to plates. Timeless connection, timeless material. CHALLENGE: At the begging of design process there were lot off tips of leg. The design has few shapes, and designer was not satisfied. It was make lot of prototypes. So, we used that less is more, and made lightest variant, and everyone were satisfied. Sand glass were made.
