DESIGN NAME: Fluid
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Pendant Lamp
INSPIRATION: The world is changing. Everything is moving. This movement is understandable and discoverable through accurate calculations. The fluid contains these features and the design was inspired from the concept of it.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The designers do not pay enough attention to patterns of shadow and its great and beautiful features in design process of lighting. The pattern can improve quality of inner space of architecture. To achieve this goal, the design was used features of mathematics that creates complex Geometry. All objects have their own algorithm. Therefor it was created geometry in designing of lighting that has fluid and dynamic algorithm.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This pendant creates different patterns of shadow through moving source of light that has a pleasant effect on space. If you do not want to use the patterns, you can just use localized light. The necessary dimmer and adapter are placed on the wire. A movement sensor placed on the guide provides the dimmer with a wire signal, resulting in the dimming process.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in July 2018 in Tehran, Iran and finished in August 2018.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The second most abundant bio-polymer on the planet is called chitin. We ordered a bunch of shrimp shells, we grinned them and we produced chitosan paste. By varying chemical concentrations, we were able to achieve a wide array of properties. It is 100 percent recyclable. So why are we still designing with plastics? For objects designed to biodegrade, put them in the sea, and they will nourish marine life; place them in soil, and they will help grow a tree. In order to print the structures, we built a robotic controlled extrusion system with multiple nozzles.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: It has normal dimensions with width 600mm x height 400mm but also it can be built different dimension.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: First, we tried to create algorithm which provides movement and dynamics in the space through mathematics and we could dramatically change quality of inner space by a small part of it. Through writing special formula, we achieved the unique geometry. Second, we was following bio-material that could be used instead of plastic. With study on sea features, we could gain Chitin which aids to our environment such as soil, trees, sea and etc.
CHALLENGE: The greatest design challenge was the giving birth to an eternal and timeless piece of furniture through the use of bio-materials while at the same time making use of a varied and dynamic geometry.
