| DESIGN NAME: Green Sterilizer PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sterilization INSPIRATION: As air pollution increases, indoor air quality has become an important issue. Bad odors in car, foul odors in refrigerator, and garment odors in closet are common problems. To remove these odors, people use Odor Bomb to get rid of intense odors. But the Odor Bombs, made of chemical material containing in spray cans, become a second pollution when we use them. Therefore, we applied ozone technology to develop a cordless Green Sterilizer to replace these traditional chemical products. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Green Sterilizer is equipped with a unique USA invention patented ozone element, so it can deodorize bad odors in few minutes and bring fresh air back in car, refrigerator, closet and small room. The other unique property is that we applied a proprietary technology to reduce the size of high voltage transformer, so that the unit can be so small to house various compartments. With its capability to generate 50 ppm high ozone concentration, this new product can also sterilize bacteria and viruses in ambient air as evidenced and approved in the SGS test report. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The severity of a contaminated area and the size of the room would determine the duration of ozone treatment. One push button control provides 15, 30, or 45 minutes of operations. When time is up, the unit will turn off automatically and the light on the LED ring will turn off also. When battery is low, the LED ring will flash 5 times and turn off the unit to remind the user to recharge the battery. This computerized operation makes easy and secure ozone application on deodorization and sterilization. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: We applied the high tech to develop a compact size transformer with high efficiency so that the Green Sterilizer can perform well in deodorization and sterilization. In addition, a unique mechanical structure was designed to assemble ozone element, fans, circuit boards, transformer, and lithium-ion battery to form a vertical structure, so the unit can adapt to different compartments. Moreover, an extraordinary software was developed to optimize power consumption by allowing the Green Sterilizer to run for up to 105 minutes. RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In research, it was found people used lots of perfume jars or odor bombs to get rid of intense odors at indoor space that increased more wastes to pollute our environments. In the market, the air purifiers or air ionizers can not perform well to make odor free fresh air back. Therefore, we spent a lot of time on research to find new solution and technology to make a cordless ozone generator which can generate high ozone concentration and perform high efficiency on deodorization and sterilization. We also involved lots of time on developing software to operate this new product. CHALLENGE: The high voltage transformer and mechanical engineering structures are the hardest part, and how to design innovative style form to coordinate with automobile interior and housing environment, how to design a high efficient circuits for power optimization are a challenge too.
