PRIMARY FUNCTION: Book design
INSPIRATION: Tour of Europe, travelled many countries, all sorts of doors gathered here, as heavy stone, ancient of wood, magnificent metal, vaguely patterned and mottled paint, Readers can feel European culture from the doors when reading the book. The book design is intended to show urban cultural heritage, make people pay attention to cultural inheritance and protective historical building.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The book is a large hardcover form, its contents are about European doors. The materials use leather, cloth, special paper and others to enhance the visual and tactile sense. In process design, using gold blocking, brand printing, die stamping and other technology, brings a strong sense of history, profound, primitive simplicity. In layout design, abandon complex design symbols, grasp the space through the layout of words and images.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The book is a large format, hardcover design. The book can be read by pulling it out of its shell.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in October 2011 in Shenyang China and finished in February 2012 in Beijing China. The book design published in China Design Year Book Volume eighth in December 2012. It was exhibited at Liaoning fine art exhibition in Liaoning Art Museum 2014, and won the bronze medal in the second graphic design exhibition of China 2015.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Viewed from material, through the different texture, show subtle emotion changes, such as different sense of touch among leather, cloth and paper. Viewed from printing technology, the die stamping process on black leather in the book cover, to present decorous feeling and gorgeous effect. Using of gold blocking, brand printing, and other processes, brings a strong sense of layers, full of personality and very dramatical.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: First of all, in China, cities are getting younger and more modern, and old buildings are gradually disappearing from the map. The original intention of this book is to retain and keep the historical marks and cultural symbols of cities. Secondly, through learning from doors of Europe, wake up their own traditional door craft enthusiasm.
CHALLENGE: The creative challenge is as follows, firstly, the effective combination of conceptual design and printing technology, through printing, binding and special materials, turn the design into a real, three-dimensional book. Secondly, the layout of characters, graphics, painting blank and other visual elements in the book. Thirdly, the application of different materials can enhance visual and tactile sense, generate the time flow and spatial level when reading.
