| DESIGN NAME: Talent Show PRIMARY FUNCTION: Poster Design INSPIRATION: The design is inspired by Picasso quote, every child is an artist, the problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up. The talent show unleashes the child within the person.The three main visuals were selected to reflect the local talents in Saudi Arabia, such as poetry, music, and sports. The representation of Saudi women maintained the conservative dress code and the cultural outfit reflected in the pattern and colors used. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The concept of the visual artwork was driven by three main elements; women, talent and design. These elements were selected to emphasize Dar Al-Hekma University as a leading school of design for women. In this design, the same keywords were reflected but we added the comic, and funny language. Using cartoonish character unleashes the childish personality in every artist. Due to the conservative culture of Saudi Arabia, and sensitivity of the topic, we used the cartoonish style to deliver the message smoothly. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Vector and raster based software. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 279.091 mm x 267.619 mm TAGS: women, design, talent show, poster, unleash, illustration, Saudi Arabia, Dar Alhekma university, visual communication, social media RESEARCH ABSTRACT: After studying the brief and researching its main components, we found that the deliverables are targeting three segments; the sponsor, the talented candidates and the audience. Talent, women and unleash were the the three main keywords the design was based on. Hence, our visuals were selected to appeal to the three targeted groups yet applicable as a promotional material for the show. For the sponsor, the value of appraising local talents is the drive for appreciating the show and funding it. On the other hand, embracing the diversity of talents for the candidates is a great factor to motivate them to participate in the event. When it comes for the audience, the fun, festive and cheerful aspect will engage them to attend the event. CHALLENGE: The challenging part of the project is delivering the message without causing sensitivity in the Saudi culture.
