DESIGN NAME: Baoxi Kid
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Jewelry Collection
INSPIRATION: I was inspired while working on the production of a new seal, I thought about my son and motherly love: "son, child in the heart", this is the literal meaning of the two drawn ideograms. However, once printed on the parchment, I immediately thought of poetry and the strength of the content with a few simple, effective, precious traits like a jewel. The collection, BaoXi Kid, inspired by the poetry of Giovanni Pascoli, expresses a profound reality common to all men, invites to understanding and pacification. The childhood represents the naive nature that can be preserved even in adulthood.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The name Baoxi is the union of two Chinese characters Bao and Xi: bao means treasure, what is precious, the second identifies the imperial seal. The first character was chosen by Empress Wu Zetian (624-715) and was later added to the character xi, previously used to indicate imperial seals. Both characters contain a part that represents jade, a hard stone with a strong symbolic value, which traditionally was believed to favor body-mind balance and harmony.
Baoxi Kid is the jewel seal, unisex, which communicates our western culture through the art of seals in the Chinese tradition.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The utilitarian-communicative function of the jewel seal is to communicate a feeling. The collection bases its strength above all on the design idea it contains, not on its venal value, so people do not wear it only as an accessory, but as an integral and necessary part of their personality. This collection, in fact, is characterized by the great versatility and variety of its proposals, affordable for everyone: pendant, earrings, ring in gold, silver with or without precious gems and is suitable for all ages. It interprets a young and cosmopolitan style with a strong identity.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This jewel was conceived during the Stage-Laboratory, Zhuanke - The Art of seal in the chinese tradition, on 10 February 2018 organized by the celso.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The project was born from the art of the seals in the Chinese tradition, from the paper to the stone engraving, for the jewel I went to the realization in 3D.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The size of the pendant can vary, an intermediate size can be 25 mm x 40 mm.
Both the pendant and the earring and the ring can be made either in gold or in silver, with brilliants or jade, but I do not exclude the possibility of making it with new innovative and green materials, to satisfy the most advanced and attentive customers eco-sustainability.
TAGS: Balance, harmony, pendant, earrings, ring, bracelet, jewel, jade, gold, silver, resin, innovative materials, precious gems, diamonds, boy, girl, kid, multiculturalism, cosmopolitan, citizen of the world, new citizen, citizen of the future
RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The use and creation of seals in China is an ancient art. The seals, from their origins, perform different functions, but each of them, according to their form, also contains an aesthetic value.
As the private stamp was considered a sort of certificate of identity, so the jewel seal strongly characterizes the person wearing it. This collection is a project that wants to go beyond the ephemeral, wants to communicate. Imagining the citizen of the future, as an artist, who prefers experimentation and contamination, I have linked the art of seals and the analysis of the childhood poetics.
CHALLENGE: Multiculturalism is a fact, but in reality it is society itself that attributes value and significance to it; from here my vision starts.
With this "seal" I wanted to merge our western culture with the ancient oriental one.
My challenge then is to contribute even if in small part to produce culture with a "simple jewel", and with the help of "experts in the field of jewelry", to be able to realize it in the best way to be able to give it a wide diffusion.
