RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Inspired by the waste reduction and sustainability idea, the team started their research especially on the source of furniture. The furniture in this project should fulfill a sense of design, durability and a reliable source of their raw materials. After shortlisted several, works of a British furniture design firm are selected for their trust-able raw material source and modern furniture plus lighting design. The works include bookshelves, cabinets, pendant, tripod tables etc.
CHALLENGE: The objective of enhancing intimacy with nature and family can be achieved by layout arrangements. Yet, a zero waste design requires a special focus on every detail from the quantity to quality of furniture and fixtures. Promisingly durable wooden furniture is chosen but the team pushed it further to trace the material source in order to comply with the sustainability principle. High-grade timbers from sustainable sources are selected, mainly North American hardwood. Japanese transparent ion paint is also used for the ceiling to generate forest air in the room.
