PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Coffee Machine

INSPIRATION:
The inspiration of the design comes from the shape of the letter "C" the side view of the design resembles the letter "C" which will bring coffee on users mind.Not only the form of the design but also the selected color for the design support each other to emphasize the inspiration.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Generally, coffee machines on the market are very similar to each other. In this project, it is aimed to design the coffee machine in a way that it takes a small place and pleases the users with its form when they see it.This design goes along with the image about coffee on the users’ minds thanks to its form, texture and color. The form and color foster the happiness related with coffee on the users’ mind. The color of the design could be related to the color of the coffee bean which may evoke the smell of the coffee and eventually increases the happiness.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Firstly, some water is poured into the water box. Then a filter, which has the same size as the ones on the market, will be placed in the filter basket of the coffee machine. After a fair amount of coffee is added and a mug or a glass is placed, the size of the glass/mug will be selected. When the machine completes the process, an audio warning will be given to the user.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
This project has started in October 2017 Ankara and been completed in January 2018 Ankara.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Metal forming and plastic injection methods will be used in production process. Metal forming will be used for the body of the machine, the plastic material is selected for the water tank and the injection molding method will be used.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
The opinions of the users were asked during short interviews.The preferences of the users were noted to be eansidered during design process.Thoughts and ingsights of the users taken into consideration for the final form of the coffee machine design.

CHALLENGE:
Standing out amongst classical forms and approaching to the coffee machines with a different perspective has brought out the creativeness of this project.

PROFILE:
My name is Birce Yıldırım. I'm studying at Atilim University- Industrial product design department. I was interested in design since high school. I had always a different point of view that's why I wanted to use my abilities in design too. I'm graduated from fine arts high school and I'm really into in this field for a while. I developed myself thanks to this high school but I also believe that I have inborn talent. I'm interested in sport such as kickbox, fitness and basketball. What's more, I also support the idea that people should enhance themselves both physically and mentally. Doing sport not only improve your body but also your soul. For the future, I'm planning to boost my language, study for master degree and head towards to automotive design after gain experience.
