DESIGN NAME: Dervish
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Ring
INSPIRATION: The Dervish ring takes inspiration from the Sufi Saints and their attire.
While whirling, Dervish's arms are open: his right arm is directed to the sky, ready to receive God's beneficence; his left hand, upon which his eyes are fastened, is turned toward the earth. The semazen conveys God's spiritual gift to those who are witnessing the Sema. Revolving from right to left around the heart, the semazen embraces all humanity with love. The human being has been created with love in order to love.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The mesmerising patterns created by the flowing skirt of a whirling dervish dancer which this image is transformed through the Dervish ring itself, two different levels that illustrate the different phases of the skirt. The Ring can be whirled around a central radical axis pim also represent the head of the Dervish. Materials used are gold and silver, to reflect the boldness of the body and the sensibility of the movement. Dervish ring is made of two angled silver and gold sections joined together by a gold pim at the center. The ring has a strong architectural aesthetic, forming a stunning centerpiece.

CHALLENGE: Abstracting the Dervish Whirling and making its very complicated kinetic & organic form into simplicity was challenging. trying to turn/spin two half parts of the ring was another challenge.
