| DESIGN NAME: Demonstration Unit in Yu Yao, China PRIMARY FUNCTION: Interior Design INSPIRATION: The project is a demonstration unit in 75 square meter, the challange is to maximize the living fuctions. After many layout options, the interior finally fits 3 bedrooms, 1 living room, 1 dinning area, 1 kitchen, 1 washroom and 1 balcony within that small space. Besides, a modern luxury style was proposed as the local customers like to have better lifestyle throught buying new apartment in this small city - Yu Yao, China. After the layout and style confirmation, the designer then think about how to show the modern luxury lifestyle within the tide construction budget and construction schedule. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: It is a show-flat in Yu Yao, China. The purpose of the project is to help developer to attract more customers to buy the apartments. Before the design stage, designer was required to realize the local market, and the type of customers etc. After the reserch, modern luxury atmosphere was proposed to match the local marketing scheme. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: As it is a demonstration unit, therefore traffic flow within the showflat is very important. The designer tried many optional layouts and then came up the final decision with 3 bedrooms, 1 dinning room, 1 living room, 1 kitchen, 1 bathroom and 1 balcony. The layout fits well all the living requirements of the local customers. After entering the entrance, both living room and dinning room can be seen clearly. There is no partition in between two spaces, so it looks very spacious. It also helps developer to improve the space quality and selling price of the apartment. Of course the other bedrooms and bathroom were well located along the short corridor. Both developer and customers are very happy to see the final outcome. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Stone, stainless steel, wall paper, tiles and timber flooring are the main materials applied. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 8.5m width, 8.8m length, 2.85m height TAGS: YuYao, Ningbao, China, Forte, Showflat, HotKoncepts, MartinChow, HongKong RESEARCH ABSTRACT: As it is a demonstration unit, therefore the designer needed to realize the local market and type of customers in Yuyao, China. Of course the designer was required to work closely with the marketing team of the client, so that we came up some optional interior styles and layouts for the client's approval. Finally, 3-bedrooms type and modern luxury feel were selected for this demonstration unit. CHALLENGE: The challenge was to fit 3 bedrooms, living room, dinning area, kitchen and washroom within 75 square meter living space. The interior design style must fulfill the local living standard. Finally modern luxary style was proposed, but another challenge is to fit the tide construction budget.
