| DESIGN NAME: Amelia PRIMARY FUNCTION: Armchair INSPIRATION: Inspired by the audacious personality of Amelia Earhart and the flowing lines of her famous airplanes, this chair tries to inspire audacity and free thought by moving away from classic standards and creating a timeless style. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Incredibly comfortable and ergonomic this armchair has a fluidity of lines, which emulates the shape of airplanes from the mid-twentieth century in a compilation of materials that inspire warmth and modernity. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The dynamically shaped silhouette that the view traverses tries to give the idea of speed and lightness at the same time, trying to create a modern piece with a retro touch being a piece that will surely attract all eyes. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project started in April 2017 and finished in September 2017, in Merida Yucatan, in the laboratory of prototypes of G. Rios. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The design of the coupling system and the casting of the aluminum structures allow to create in this piece a mixture of materials that gives a visual balance and great resistance. The ergonomically shaped seat is made of high-density molded foam and finely upholstered leather. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Solid Tzalam Wood, Cast Aluminum, Premium Leather and High Density Foam. TAGS: Chair, Leather, Aviation, Amelia Earhart, Atom punk, G. Rios. RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The ergonomics of the armchair and the forms of the planes of the decades of the 20's and 30's were studied in depth. NAME: G. Rios PROFILE: Born in México, Gerardo Ríos has the training of an industrial designer and the calling of an artist: Curious and inquisitive by nature, in his furniture he mixes a seemingly boundless array of stimuli that only truly materialize after an intense process of studies and refinement. As a multifaceted artist, he has a highly sophisticated vision in regards to what makes a piece of furniture special. His designs are made with pure, organic shapes, sometimes elemental but always evoking lavish experiences and associations. |
