| DESIGN NAME: Rounded PRIMARY FUNCTION: Private Club INSPIRATION: I could still remember the red round table that my family used to have a gathering dinner on Chinese New Year’s Eve with children running around . It's one of my best memories as family. The project is a family private club. Since the family members are very close, they wish to have a space for dining and interaction. The client treasured family time. Therefore, when designing the private club, I infused the traditional family gathering spirit in the client’s favorite European Style. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The main space set a round bar, Round symbolize gathering, fullness, and the ideal image for family. The round table reappeared the New Year’s dinner of the client’s careless childhood. The old granny is obsessed with the red brick stove in her hometown. Thus, I designed the red brick wall not only to last the beauty of traditional kitchen but also highlight the image of fire to convey the time and effort red bricks were made. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: I value the interaction between the space and its user. Therefore, when designing the play room, a floor-to-ceiling blackboard was made for encouraging drawing and painting upon noticing the children in the family enjoy drawing together. I also did the coloring and gradient for the kids’ work, Sea World, which is the main wall for play room. The kids love it. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in April, 2016 in Taipei Taiwan and finished in February, 2017 in Taoyuan Taiwan. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Interior Space and Exhibition Design |

NAME: Li Hui Wang PROFILE: Graceful yet childlike, detail driven but not framed by rules; never follows the trend but to create one. For Wang, the perfection of life is never to be defined. For every piece of work, she gets back to her very beginning, not only to explore the dimensions but to infuse the philosophy of life. You can taste the carefree spirit within rigorous layout in Wang’s design. You can also surprisingly find the nostalgia for a past age in her classical style. The blending of old and new creates the fourth dimension of space-Time. Feel the warmth of handmade art that seems easily made by machines. It’s never easy to define Wang’s style, for “beauty” is what she devotes to. As Karl Lagerfeld said, “My only lord in life is nothing but beauty itself.” Savoring Wang, as you may find that design is life; life is the runway of beauty in her spirit. Beauty, what an abstract word, yet how pleasantly it can be conveyed! |
