DESIGN NAME: Beijing Kerry Centre Majestic Christmas
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Promotional Kit for Christmas Events
INSPIRATION: The design concept is a combination of ancient culture and contemporary style. Each royal appeared represents different outlet in the hotel, e.g. China king symbolises Chinese restaurant The Horizon, Malaysia ruler represents Asian cuisine restaurant Coffee Garden, etc. Inspired by Chinese traditional shadow play, all the figures are painted in black for contrasting gold colours. The architectures, frames and design elements appeared are uniquely designed for matching respective royal cultures.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project is used for promoting Kerry Centre’s luxury Christmas events. I conducted design and illustrations by employing diversified cultures related to various royals in the world. I focused on hotel’s luxury image with touch of modernised styling, gold prints and fancy finishings. Various golden shades are presented to cope with concept. With use of die-cut window, target audience can swap and display the royal cards they prefer. Sale informations are showed at the back of cards.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Targeted audience can swap and display the royal card they prefer through outer box's die-cut window. Through various print finishing effects and textures on the materials, the audience can experience the branding expectation through the sense of touch.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The box is made of 300gsm art card with 1 gold colour printing, 1 die-card window, matt lamination, embossing, matt gold hot stamping and frosted UV. It is wrapped with one gold raw textured ribbon. The royal cards are made of hardboard printed in 5 colours (one additional colour is gold) with matt lamination and rounded corner cuts. The order sheet is made of 180gsm paper printed in 5 colours (one additional colour is gold) with rounded corner cuts.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The dimension of box is 25.5cm*11.5cm*1cm; the dimension of a singular card is 25.4cm*11.1cm*1cm. The whole set of kit is small enough to be sent out via mail.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Understanding the importance of cultural significance and influences, I visited a number of websites and books to deepen my knowledge upon the subject matter. Through my visual and concept research, I managed to design a range of visual elements by identifying cultural diversity.
CHALLENGE: This project requires relatively comprehensive understandings and researches on various cultures within in a reasonably short timeframe. In order to engage with targeted audience, all the figures’ postures, costumes, props and backgrounds appeared have to be interestingly enough to catch the the their attentions. Due to client's budget constraint, the kit were released in smaller quantity, but designed in exclusive style. Besides, technical experiences in print effects were also a challenge.
