PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The design comes from my straightforward design thinking in general. From the beginning, as graffiti artist in the 90´s, i was not much interested in round forms at all, in my way to create things.
I was interested in straight lines and what i can achieve with it. And this is how it is still today.
The form itself, evolved from the idea to have a very simple object which one is able to play and interact with the light effects of the illuminated edges from the acrylic glas. A square, circle was to simple, so my objective was in between these two forms.
It has to be as simple as possible in form and function in cooperation with the production and project requirements which ones are given.
The single parts of the lamp are lasercuted by a production company near my workspace. The wiring is made by a specialist also around of my workspace. And in the end it comes all together in my place where i assemble and polish it by hand to the final product.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: How reacts acrylic glass as material itself, with different colors with a concentrated light source. Which is the best acrylic glass (PMMA, XT, GS) in consideration to durability, resistance to light and the production itself. What lamp holder fits best my needs in the design and production, is it available on the market, do i have to create one on my own. What is the best wiring, materials, colors and safety in consideration on the weight.
Form of the lamp, competitors with acrylic glass in the field of lighting, material, legal restrictions in context of safeness in general and electricity, distribution and what is necessary to sell them.
From the beginning of the creation a very good friend of mine was involved to evaluate the prototypes and the effects which i came across with the different shapes, colors and materials.
Bright and very special effects on ceiling and walls, like from a window in the church up to more reduced effects and a way more comfortable lighting ambience in the room take place in form of the evolution from the first prototype to the final product.
CHALLENGE: From the beginning the focus was to have as less production stations as possible.
I started to thing about how all the single acrylic glass lamellae fit and hold together.
I tried to develop a system which one allows me to put the single lamellae on the center ring which is connected to the lamp and socket holder. From the idea to have a system in which a single lamellae can be easily removed up to a more robust and fixed one. The obstacles in this process i was confronted with was the flexibility and susceptibility to breaking of the acrylic glass and the different thicknesses. From a (only) push together situation with the acrylic lamellae, a Click system up to the final version with a second ring on the top and bottom to fixate the lamellae like a locking system.
